Issue 65- June 19, 2020

Hello Friends-

"Welcome back to "The Cre8tive Life"- your weekly newsletter full of lifestyle tips, smiles, and musings.

This past week has been a bit of a hodge podge- binge watched some mindless television as self care, prepared for my event this evening (there is still time to register and come if you're seeing this on the earlier side of this Friday), made some art, "ventured out into the wild" for a necessary grocery trip, ate lots of Red Vines, attended some workshops, and continued to ride the emotional rollercoaster in Quarantineland.

How are you feeling and holding up in these times? I'd love to hear from you!

Random stories, pictures, video highlights, and other life musings can be found on my personal instagram page (@e101) and official brand page (@thecre8tiveartisan) throughout the week (when/if I end up posting anything).

*And, if you have missed any previous newsletters, feel free to check out the archive section on my website: HERE.

Continued prayers that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy

(mentally & physically) out there 💗.

My weekly (random) compilation of some of my favorite "cre8tive" things that I want to share:

  • FAVORITE WORD: Gluggaveður (n): "Window-weather" describes weather that “is nice to look at through a window, but not nice to be out in.”

  • ADVICE: “We can disagree and still love each other, unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” - Robert Jones, Jr.

  • MOOD MUSIC: This week's mood music is compliments of a group that I love called, Little Dragon. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they just released this brand new Tiny Desk (Home) Concert yesterday.

  • QUARANTINE RECOMMENDATION: As I delved deep into some mindless self care this week, I stumbled upon a show that came out a while ago; but is still "new" to me- "Big Little Lies." I ended up binge watching the whole series in 2 days, and was mad that no one had told me about it before.

  • THE MORE YOU KNOW: As many may (now) be aware, today is Juneteenth (also known as "Freedom Day" or "Jubilee Day"). While it has always been a national holiday within the African American community, this year marks the first time that it is getting broader recognition (in the sense that even many companies are now starting to acknowledge it on their formalized holiday calendars). I know and realize that the roots of this holiday may be "new" to some, as it is not something that is traditionally taught within the school curriculum. So, in the focus of sharing, I figured I would provide some historical background with this video of "The History of Juneteenth." (***I'm also sharing more information here (from the official website if you're wanting to learn even more).

  • LIFESTYLE TIP: Did you know that you can pretty much turn any boxed cake mix into cookies? Oh good- I didn't either! To create this "magic," you just add ½ a cup of oil and two eggs to the mix, shape the "cookie dough" as you desire on your baking sheet, and then bake at 350°F for eight to 15 minutes (depending on your oven). And, "Voila!," Red Velvet Cookies (or, whatever your flavor)

  • FEEL GOOD SHARE: This coming coming Sunday is "Father's Day." And, I must admit I am super excited to see all the goodness that John Legend and friends have cooked up for his special, "John Legend and Family: A Bigger Love Father's Day" on this coming Sunday evening!

A reminder to take care of one of your most precious assets!
