ON THE HOME FRONT
As some of you know, I wrote almost all of the Seth Browne Trilogy BEFORE my debut publishing in Jaunary of 2022. I had fully intended to keep on writing new works alongside the marketing and publishing of these three novels. Instead, I hit a wall.
Aside from heavy editing on Impossible Refuge, I’ve barely written any fiction all year. It wasn’t writer’s block. It was just too much for my brain to keep track of story lines and learn the ins and outs of marketing. It was too much for my heart to experience the emotional roller coaster of self-publishing and still have the creative capacity to shape characters.
I wasn’t even sure if I was supposed to pick up my pencil again. That's a whole other story (which I explain in detail in a new series at this month's blog -- see link below).
I've shared on my Facebook page some of the major financial costs involved in a wise and frugal self-publishing endeavor. Right now, moving forward requires me
1) To trust God to provide along the way.
2) To stick close very God to make sure I’m on His path every step of the way.
Did you see that? Going forward is a journey in building trust and building relationship. I may never see the spiritual changes taking place in my readers, but God's still using this endeavor to change ME. No suprise there!
So far, I've tried following what the self-publishing experts told me to do. Nothing wrong with that; they've chartered this path successfully before. But now, I’m going to have to learn to listen to man’s counsel and then figure out if the Spirit is in agreement with it for my own walk.
For the past year, I’ve fallen short of man’s design for book launches. I’m seeking God’s direction on this one. Maybe you can help.
