FAMU-FSU College of Engineering names esteemed scholar, innovator as new dean

Florida A&M University and Florida State University have announced Suvranu De as the next dean of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. De is currently the J. Erik Jonsson ’22 Distinguished Professor of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he serves as head of the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering and director of the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Imaging in Medicine. His first day at FSU is July 15. Read more ...

Nine FSU students earn Fulbright Scholarships

Nine current and former Florida State University students have received scholarships through the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program to research and teach in designated countries all over the world, including Brazil, Spain, Ecuador, Denmark, Austria and Canada. Read more ...

College of Nursing dean elected as trustee of Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Jing Wang, dean of the Florida State University College of Nursing, has been named to the board of trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Wang is the first administrator from an institution within the State University System of Florida to serve on the board in at least 30 years. She will officially begin her RWJF term July 27. Read more ...

FSU dance professor continues to be recognized as trailblazer in performing arts

Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, the Lawton and Nancy Smith Fichter Professor in the College of Fine Arts and founder of the celebrated Urban Bush Women (UBW) dance company, received the Award of Merit for Achievement in the Performing Arts from the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) last week. Read more ...

FSU researchers collaborate with business to develop next-generation superconducting cables

Researchers at Florida State University’s Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), in collaboration with Colorado-based Advanced Conductor Technologies, have demonstrated a new, ready-to-use superconducting cable system — an improvement to superconductor technology that drives the development of technologies such as all-electric ships or airplanes. Read more ...
