Xenophobia

Politicians

Interpressnews, August 23
Kakha Kukava, Free Georgia: “This [construction of a highway by the Chinese company] is the result of Georgian government’s ugly, unattractive liberal policy, which puts Georgian and foreign companies under unequal conditions that ultimately leads to the unemployment and poverty in our country. About 500 Chinese workers arrived in Georgia over past week and the Georgian government also confirmed it recently. Noteworthy that it happens in the situation when Georgians have to face absolutely reckless regulations imposed by the government.”

Obieqtivi TV, Gamis Studia, July 10
Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots: “Georgian man is oppressed most of all in Georgia… No matter who it is - Turk, Iranian or someone else– the government is our oppressor; we are facing absolutely different problems.”

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, July 12
Irakli Shikhiashvili, Georgian March: “Aliens, illegals have bought a lot of lands in Georgia; however, they do not cultivate these lands, but have put them in banks and are now involved in certain financial operations with the money gained from it.”

Media

Georgia and World, August 19
Davit Mkheidze, author: “Georgia’s shameful President refused to grant Georgian citizenship to Alexander Chachia and it happens when Georgia is flooded by migrants of various races.”

Georgia and World, July 22
Beso Barbakadze, journalist: “Probably, neither do we believe in a conspiracy theory, but the fact is that fewer Georgians remain in Georgia every year. Another fact is that more and more property is transferred to the ownership of foreigners and after they bought houses, lands, they will tell you: it is mine and do not even dare to enter. Then, we will become guests in our own country and two square meters of land will be the only thing we may need for graves.”

News Front, July 20
Editorial board: “Haqqin editorial board crosses the line with its accusations voiced against Georgia. It leaves an impression that there are Armenian agents in its editorial board, who are deliberately trying to undermine latently tense Georgian-Azerbaijani relations. Further, instead of trying to impose a blockade on Marneuli’s ethnic Azerbaijani population (historically, Azerbaijani-turned Borchalo tatars) this spring amid the coronavirus pandemic, with the purpose of enriching someone, the Georgian government should have promoted the integration of the region’s population as well as utmost economic dependence of this population on Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia.”

Civil society organizations

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, August 17
Nana Devdariani, Global Research Center: “The State can always redeem the land that was sold to foreigners cheaply at a market price… The fact that they gave entire forests to the Chinese - they did not sell them but gave them under a long-term lease, but actually, it is equal to selling – we will not be able to sit in this studio after 49 years and discuss this issue again… They are doing their best to ensure that our future generations are indifferent towards this issue.”

Asaval-Dasavali, July 27 – August 2
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Rights Defenders Union: “Like Armenia, Georgia also stays at war – Azerbaijan seized David Gareji Monastery and deployed its troops there; Russia grabbed Abkhazia and Tskhinvali, to say nothing about Armenia, which is gradually creeping…”

Clerics

Interpressnews, July 19
Iakob Iakobishvili, Archbishop: “If they call on us not to address God and not to visit churches, they will be direct successors of Shah Abbas; they are not Georgians. Let me say strictly, if they do it, I will confront any of them very strictly. We were born once and will die once.”

Turkophobia

Politicians

Georgian Public Broadcaster, Moambe, August 29
Irma Inashvili, Alliance of Patriots: “The banner has this form, because it focuses on a very important topic discussed by us over past 10 years – it is Turkey’s economic and ideological expansion in Adjara. This is the key issue on our agenda. Every important building – and you can request this information – business institutions, facilities, companies located in Adjara belong to Turkish citizens, Turkish businessmen.”

Media

Obieqtivi TV, Namdvili Ambebi, August 19
Ani Kiknadze, journalist: “Food facilities, transport, hotels, supermarket networks, construction business and trade centers demonstrate Turkey’s policy, i.e. economic expansion in Adjara region, best of all. Most jobs are created in Batumi and its surroundings by Turkish businessmen and entrepreneurs. And the State sees no threat in it.”

Sakinformi, August 24
Arno Khidirbegishvili, editor-in-chief of Sakinformi: “Russia is one of Georgia’s four neighbors and this fact cannot be neglected. Neither can we bypass the historical reality that Georgia stayed either under the heels of Eastern invaders or with Russia! Will Turkey return Georgia’s ancient territories to the country? I think it will grab Adjara and will have to discuss the issues of Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions with Russia.” Asaval-Dasavali

Civil society organizations

Asaval-Dasavali, July 13-19
Vladimer Khomeriki, Foundation for the Unity of Russian and Georgian Peoples: “Do not forget that the Treaty of Kars expires next year and Russia is the only country that can protect [Georgia] against Turkish aggression!”

News Front, July 30
Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, Eurasian Institute: “Russian bases deployed in Batumi and Akhaltsikhe were liquidated in 2006, prompting Turkey to spread its wings in Georgia, especially in Adjara and Samtskhe-Javakheti. Half-crazy President [Salome] Zourabichvili is still proud of this strategic failure by Georgia (Russian bases were reinforcing Georgia’s borders and limiting Turkey’s strategic strengthening), because this fact took place under her tenure as the Foreign Minister, when Saakashvili was selling and squandering everything to the Turks, as well as Azerbaijan.”

Obieqtivi, Namdvili Ambebi, August 19
Iason Geladze, Muslim and Christian Brothers for Protecting the Unity of Georgia: “An old enemy will never become a friend… Turks were, are and will be our sworn enemies. Today, silly Georgians are praying for the Turks, turning them into their fathers and guardians… But it is a temporary development. They still want Georgia to belong to Turkey; they want that Georgians no longer exist on the earth.”

Islamophobia

Politicians

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, August 7
Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots: “They are opening Quran centers, where a man goes to familiarize himself with Islam. In fact, what happens there, there is free food, free sleep, free clothes; so, they attracted people to those Quran centers that is nothing but Turkey’s endless propaganda. Can you imagine preschools? They have created Muslim preschools, where Georgian children are raised as Turks. Everyone knows about it in Adjara.”

Discrimination on the grounds of religion

Society

News Front, August 17
Temur Kogua, Facebook user: “You obviously see how Catholic Europe is destroying Orthodox countries. This well-run country, Belarus will be ravaged by war in a year… Sorosists will rob it and impose a debt of billions of dollars. Two great Georgians, Stalin and Beria defeated these enemies – Zionists and fascists – in the 20th century.

P.S. In the 20th century, Vatican was actively supporting Nazi Germany in its attempts to destruct the Orthodox world. The same happens in the 21st century. We should destroy Orthodoxy, Zionist Brzezinski said.”

Homophobia

Politicians

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, August 7
Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots: “We should return to the situation, when there is a family and a child is raised in the family atmosphere, and we should reject this LGBT misfortune, this nonsense, when a child can do whatever he/she wants and can even file a complaint against parents.”

News Front, August 5
Sandro Bregadze, Georgian March: “A real fight will take place not between Georgian Dream and National Movement, but between nationally minded people and liberast-infidels. Either morals-traditions-belief-Georgian mood will win or the country will further stick in the mud of blasphemy-perversion-homosexuality-drug addiction!!! ”

Rezonansi, August 19
Gedevan Popkhadze, Our Georgia – Solidarity Alliance: “Both candidates have an absolutely independent political niche, while I have absolutely different values and vision. Voters should make a value-based choice: If they want to preserve current reality, they should vote for Gia Volski; if they want stoned Georgia along with same-sex marriage, they should vote for Zurab Japaridze; if they want conservative, traditional values and strong state institutions, just that is what we offer.”

Media

Asaval-Dasavali, July 6-12
Giorgi Gigauri, journalist: “Swearing at the Patriarch and throwing stones at the church is a native ideology of Saakashvili’s LGBT supporters, to say nothing about a distributor of inflatable churches, Girchi or Bokeria’s Satanist sect, whose Mamasha [madam in brothel] Tamar Chergoleishvili is publicly slamming the parish receiving the Eucharist as people licking a spoon.”

Alia, August 31 – September 6
Irine Gogosashvili, journalist: “Georgia has turned into a big uterus, which exploits a Georgian woman’s uterus for so called foreign couples, thus damaging her health and disregarding the future of a newborn – what will be his/her fate? Will they grow up in a normal family, or with newly acquired parents who paid at least USD 50,000 for their birth, same-sex couples, where “parents” become exemplary!”

News Front, August 25
Editorial board: “Do we have any patron? Instead, we have marijuana and LGBT perversion; well done, Georgians, sleep nation, good luck enemy…”

Civil society organizations

News Front, July 13
Guram Palavandishvili, Society Zneoba: “[Addressing the Alliance of Patriots] Why are not you uttering a word and speaking out loud, when the Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with Baia Pataraia’s office on training courses; why are not you speaking out loud, when an LGBT-related perversive subject “Me and Society” was introduced at schools; why are not you speaking out loud, when LGBT people, like Koba Bitsadze, are carrying out training courses at summer schools; why did not speak out when the Ministry of Education officially held an essay competition on the topic of LGBT community last year?! Where are you, where is your protest?”

Asaval-Dasavali, July 13-19
Elizbar Javelidze, People’s Assembly: “The fact that the establishment of Georgian March as a political party has caused hysteria among the members of the National Movement, Sorosists and liberasts, makes it clear that it is a genuine national force, which has been fighting against this LGBT perversion and resettlement of aliens to Georgia for years!”

Clerics

Alia, August 31 – September 6
Elizbar Diakonidze, cleric: “It is terrible that we do not know how many children live in normal families and how many of them live with gay couples, especially as just same-sex parents are most eager and richest to adopt a child, a helpless child and nobody in Georgia worries about where and how these children will grow up! Quite recently, a lot of people were arrested in the United States, because just the fluid within an infant body appeared to be the best medicine to keep people young and beautiful, and a lot of Hollywood stars also take this mischief. How many rich and wealthy families have ill children? Or maybe, a child born by Georgian mother was cut to pieces by organ trading mafia and the so-called couples arriving in Georgia are simply their distributors?”

Anti-Western

Politicians

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, July 10
Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots: “These sexual or non-sexual minorities, all kinds of troubles and liberasts have spread so widely and tragically that even the Americans and Trump, even indigenous Americans do not know how to fight against them. They want to use the same scenario here, but they fail… We do not have LGBT community. There are only few of them, and various organizations, main channels and other channels are trying to prove the opposite. But there are only 20 people and therefore, it does not work here. We do not have oppressed people.”

Media

Asaval-Dasavali, August 17-23
Giorgi Gigauri, journalist: “Zurab “Girchi” Japaridze has been blessed as the joint opposition candidate in Didube single-mandate constituency. It means that the united opposition seals all dirtiness that is associated with this Satanist-liberast sect “Girchi” – be it supporting gay marriages, opening a brothel at the party office, cultivation of marijuana or consecration of deserters as bishops at inflatable churches.”

Clerics

Asaval-Dasavali, August 24-30
Spiridon Abuladze, bishop: “An unprecedented depravity, sacrilege, abomination and cannibalism is taking place. As a result, nine children were taken away from a mother. They called police. What can I tell police, how will they look into people’s eyes, why did they do it? They want to destruct the family institution. They want to do the same what is happening abroad, where tens of thousands of children are suffering. Some mothers become alcoholics, fathers use frugs, families are destroyed, and these children are given to homosexuals.

A huge mafia is involved in it. A social worker goes and agrees everything in advance – I will take a child away from them and give him/her to you and how much will you pay? A corrupt scheme is being implemented. They receive huge grants from Satanists.”
