"Here be dragons" usually means dangerous or unexplored territories, in imitation of the medieval practice of drawing dragons or monsters on the uncharted areas of maps.
But when it's applied to books... lots of you have told me how much you enjoy books with dragons, and I have to say I agree. Many years ago I read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series and I've been hooked on dragons ever since.
More recently I've become a fan of Annette Marie's books. She's been publishing urban fantasy/slow burn romances for about seven years now, and I've enjoyed everything she's written. As it says in her author bio :
"Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She proudly admits she has a thing for dragons, and her editor has politely inquired as to whether she intends to include them in every book."
Her books aren't free - although they are in Kindle Unlimited if you subscribe to that - but they are well worth the price. She's very talented and one of my "Must Buy" authors. I started with the Steel and Stone series - you can check out Chase the Dark, which is the first book in that series here - and that remains my favourite. And I think my favourite character is Zwi*, which I'm sure you'll understand when you read the books.
Her current work is based in her Guild Codex universe, with four separate but intertwining series. The first book in that universe is Three Mages and a Margarita, which you can check out here.
You can read more about Annette Marie and her books on her website.
I hope you enjoy these books as much as I have - and please do keep letting me know your favourite authors so we can all share them.
(and yes, I'm very tempted to write a book featuring dragons - what do you think? Would you buy it?)
* Zwi is a size changing magical dragonet with attitude
