Plastic from plants: FAMU-FSU College of Engineering professor uses material in plant cell walls to make versatile polymer

In new research from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, Associate Professor Ho Yong Chung demonstrated how a material found in plants can be combined with carbon dioxide to create a widely used polymer. This breakthrough, published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, offers a sustainable approach to producing plastics with desirable properties like heat regulation, flexibility and strength.
