Hello all,
It’s been a while.
I took a few months off from sending this newsletter - which doesn’t mean at all that I took a break from making updates related to my site.
I went silent primarily because I needed time to figure stuff out in relation to where I want to direct my efforts long-term. And second, because I needed time to finish a project (more about that at the end).
Well, what I discovered in relation to my newsletter is that I should change the name.
With that being said...
The Study Newsletter is now called Farview.
This is the second rename in the last three years - but who cares, right?
The name of the newsletter always seemed irrelevant to me - though I spent a good month thinking about it. It’s more the content and the idea behind the newsletter that matters.
Well, I think that Farview better represents what I started doing with my site since its inception - that's was in 2018. Plus, what type of mindset I want to instill in the people reading - that’s you.
Farview is about adopting the long-term perspective. Waiting for the bigger reward - and working hard to get that reward. Thinking in decades - not in years or months. Furthermore, it's about equipping people with the needed tools to fight the pathological impatience that has a grip on all of us.
Yes, pathological impatience. That’s an accurate way to describe the ills of our time.
Pathological impatience makes us want to have the knowledge but not do the work of claiming it.
Let me explain…
We subscribe to dozens of newsletters. Listen to a bunch of podcasts. And yet, despite all of this new knowledge. Despite reading a ton of must-read self-help books, we remain disturbingly the same.
The more I look around, the more I think we need to stop looking for shortcuts.
Hundreds of articles and documents promote the idea of having a more patient attitude towards life. At the same time, as a society, we value anything that helps us achieve things faster - or at least gives us the perception that we are getting ahead faster.
Farview is a newsletter fostering long-term thinking in a world driven by impatience.
It’s a newsletter that promotes thinking and doing. Ensuring that your present actions are enriching - not sabotaging - your future state.
