Northern Beaches Music Festival
Tickets are now on sale for this year's Northern Beaches Music Festival featuring 50 acts on five stages on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th November.
The festival is located at the Tramshed Community Arts Centre and The Berry Reserve by the beautiful Narrabeen Lake.
The 'multi genre world music' includes the brilliant Afro Moses delivering African dance rhythms and song, the toe tapping, hard driving swamp blues of Daddy Longlegs and The Swamp Donkey, “they just make me want to dance“ Psycho Zydeco and the wild Celtic whirlwind that is Firrin. Other acts include Lou Bradley, The Willing Ponies Luke Escombe, Jaga Band, AKOVA, Anglophiles, Traditional Graffiti, Dead Mellow, The Bottlers, the Trippy Hippy Band, Pat Drummond and George Mann (USA).

Illawarra Folk Festival Volunteer Applications Now Open
The Illawarra Folk Festival is looking for volunteers to help run this iconic music festival (20-22 Jan, 2023). So if you think the following might suit you, then please fill in the Volunteer Application Form:
- Helping present a world renowned music, dance and spoken word event
- Supporting folk music in Australia
- Learning and developing event management skills
- Making new friends
- Creating memories of good times.

His guest this week is Melanie Long, a banjo playing Naturopat/Nutritionist, Feminist, Greenie, Activist, Writer and Deep Thinker. He first met Melanie playing music at a “Stop Adani” protest. They most recently met again when she was playing with “K-Town Connection” at The Yass Irish and Celtic Festival.

Ensemble Rastanak - 7pm
You are invited to the launch of an exciting new group - Ensemble Rastanak - a 'world' string quartet featuring Werner Ruecker on classical guitar, Fiona Horbach on mandolin, Brent Keogh on Arabic oud and the Marjorie Li on Chinese pipa.
This unique collection of instruments draws on folk and classical music from around the world, creating a vibrant and intriguing blend of sounds, textures and flavours.
Ensemble Rastanak recently recorded at the ABC studios in Ultimo as part of the ABC classic composer commission 2021, where composer/oud player Brent Keogh was commissioned to compose six dances for this new ensemble. These dances will be performed and premiered when the group plays at Humph Hall as well as a selection of folk music from around the world arranged for this unique ensemble. Visit their web site.

Pheeroan Aklaff (USA) with Peter Farrar - 8pm
American Drum-set doyen Pheeroan akLaff believes that the arts are a way to give thanks and work for change. Pheeroan was first heard in the 1970s with Wadada Leo Smith, Oliver Lake, Anthony Davis, Henry Threadgill, James Newton, Cecil Taylor, and Sonny Sharrock. He toured Europe extensively with New York-based composers, resided in West Africa with the Guiraud ballet, and toured Asia with Yamashita Yosuke, Liu Sola, and Sunny Kim.
