For the first time in two years, we held our Salonen Family Not New Year’s Eve bonfire.

This year’s festivities included live music from JNX—an exceptional local talent (His new single is on Spotify: Pretty Little Lies), and the Dutch Touch Traveling Saloon. Both were huge hits.

A few days before the party, we awoke to find our beautiful Queensland, Jessie Blue, had reached critical mass with her cancer. She wasn’t in pain, but once the inoperable growth on her hind leg opened, the vet advised that infection and bad things weren’t far behind. We were lucky to be able to spend the entire morning with her—even taking her to one of her favorite spots: Bagby Campground.

We buried her beside her two best friends, Seely and Syd. She was an awesome soul and we miss her terribly.

I don’t know if you enjoyed January’s TBR Book Club reads as much as I did, but here’s February’s awesome foursome. I’ve already finished MIDNIGHT SON (excellent, exciting, hard to put down) and MR. MAYFAIR (hot, humorous, and so, so charming). I’m diving into the two box sets now, with glee.
