Xenophobia

Politicians

Asaval-Dasavali, September 2-8
Valeri Kvaratskhelia, Neutral/Socialist Georgia: “Whom does Georgia belong to… Spiritually, we ceded to Europe, militarily – to the United States, while we threw our land soaked in the blood of our ancestors – to our neighbors for being ripped apart. Its part was taken by the Russians; other parts are taken by the Turks, Azerbaijanis and Armenians. The Chinese, Arabs and Iranians have not voiced their territorial claims yet. But what claims may they have? They already have unofficial autonomies in Georgia in the form of compact settlements!”

Georgia and World, September 5
Vazha Otarashvili, Alliance of Patriots:
“It is absolutely true that they sold and handed over everything to foreigners – all strategic facilities, from the Sakdrisi unique deposits to Chiatura Manganese and Zestaponi Ferroalloy Plant. Let me repeat: foreign citizens of all nationalities feel happy in Georgia that cannot be said about Georgians.”

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, September 28
Avto Enukidze, Alliance of Patriots of Georgia:
“Look at these tenders: Chinese, Chinese, Chinese, Chinese and Chinese are sitting. Why do not you set dumping prices? I recollect an old joke, when the secretary of the district committee asks a Tatar how much his cow was milking and he reduces and reduces and finally, he asks again how much it will milk and he answers that it would be actually water. How can it be possible that they are constantly reducing prices so that finally nothing remains and money is still paid? Then the same should be done in two years.”

Media

Georgia and World, September 10
Editorial board:
“Presently, about 640 thousand citizens of Germany have the legal right to carry defensive arms, whereas in 2014 their number was only 260 thousand… Loss of the feeling of safety is cited as the reason behind increased demand for arms in Germany that is largely driven by attacks by foreign migrants in public areas and frequent sexual assaults on women.”

Asaval-Dasavali, September 30 – October 6
Giorgi Gigauri, journalist: “Yes, we should supposedly be happy that so many Arabs, Iranians and Turks are settling down in Tbilisi or other cities! We should be very happy about the fact that aliens become owners of Georgian lands and “employee” Georgian girls in their brothels! Yes, this Soros-propagandistic TV program [No Time for Sleeping, Imedi TV] has not said even a word about the fact that “Plekhanov Avenue” and its adjacent territory is full of brothels, where Georgian men are not admitted in order not to find their female acquaintances or neighbors there, sitting on the knees of Arabs, Iranians or Turks!

Not a single word has been said about the fact that Arabs and Iranians have bought entire buildings in Tbilisi and that they completely fill up the 10, 000-seat Sport Palace during the concerts of their stars! This program has not said even a word about the fact that everyday police detain Iranian or Arab drug dealers, who are importing this poison to the country and, bluntly speaking, poisoning and destructing our young people!”

Civil society organizations

Asaval-Dasavali, September 23-29
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Rights Defenders’ Union: “Imedi TV prepared several stories, according to which the Iranians, Turks and Arabs raped Georgian children or took their pornographic photos, but what we received in return?! All of them were covertly taken out of the country… Let’s tell the truth – the country is left to the generation with pants down, who will be apparently expelled by the Turks, Iranians and Arabs from the country and entire Georgia will be left to aliens.”

Society

Alia, September 23
Maia Dvalidze, social network user: “I doubt that something else is happening here and this international university is not for Georgians; just that is why it is “international”… We know the purpose of bringing so many foreigners for so many years into the abandoned West and your “sincere” answer is no longer necessary.”

Turkophobia

Politicians

Kavkasia, Barieri, September 16
Vazha Otarashvili, Alliance of Patriots:
“Do not you see how Turkey is entering Adjara… Military non-alignment enables us … with Russia, it will consider us a reliable partner… You see, how Russia and Turkey are reaching an agreement… 34% of Georgia’s historical territories have been seized, captured by Turkey.”

Media

Georgia and World, September 19
Anzor Danelia, author: “Our “historical friend,” Turkey has seized over 12 000 kilometers of Georgian land in Tao-Klarjeti, together with its population. The condition of unique churches and monasteries located on this land is deplorable. Due to our treacherous government’s criminal silence, we are now losing (if not yet) Adjara.”

Sakinform, October 2
Alexander Chachia, author:
“Turkey’s interest is clear and we can change nothing about it. We can counter it only with one thing – Russia’s strategic interest not to have the border with NATO and Turkey on the Psou River, because only idiots may not believe that if Georgia enters NATO and this letter brings its troops into Georgia to deploy them on the Psou River, these troops will definitely belong to the Turkish army. Turkey is a NATO member state in this region and as I have mentioned above, the United States has long recognized Turkey as a regional superpower with the right to exert influence on the Caucasus. Considering these interests, we should manage to use Russia for not allowing (and it has relevant levers so far) the resettlement of other nations in Abkhazia and it, first of all, concerns the Turks.” Ilori

Civil society organizations

Georgia and World, September 5
Nikoloz Mzhavanadze, Rights Defenders’ Union:
“I would like to emphasize that if Russia leaves Georgia, Turkey will replace it and not only will we fail to return Abkhazia or Samachablo, we will also lose David Gareji, Kvemo Kartli, Tbilisi and everything. This is the reality we are already facing and it is becoming more and more real as time passes.”

Georgia and World, September 25
Gulbaat Rtskhiladze, Eurasian Institute:
“The situation in Georgia looks hopeless at this moment and in the near future… We cannot understand even what is happening in Adjara to say nothing about Abkhazia; we cannot understand whether we want mosques, tourism development or Turkey… So, let’s take care of what we have not lost yet and speak of what we have already lost later.”

Discrimination on religious grounds

Media

Georgia and World, September 24
Beso Barbakadze, journalist:
“The government grants citizenship or residence permits to everyone without any analysis… Not to notice decreased number of population, we are granting citizenship to the people with uncertain professions, mentality and religion, yes, religion and we are not insulting anyone, but for example, in India, there are about 250 religious movements and almost each village has its idol. Main confessions are quite enough, but besides main confessions, there are about 50 uncertain movements in Georgia, including those whose number does not exceed 100 people throughout the world and they call it religion. Do not rule out that under conditions of tolerant Georgian justice, they will grant a religious status to a group of people, who take any name, allot a building and even allocate budgetary funds to them.”

Homophobia

Politicians

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, September 6
Davit Tarkhan-Mouravi, Alliance of Patriots:
“When they tell you through TV about plotting an LGBT revolution, do you understand what a big mental darkness LGBT is? A person representing LGBT community has nothing to do with human rights; rather it is a person staying in absolute spiritual darkness… They need medical treatment, they need mental treatment, mental and some of them, even genetic.”

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, September 30
Gia Korkotashvili, Georgian Idea:
“You will not benefit by the fact that my children grew up in the country of these pederasts, hetero and homosexuals.”

Media

Obieqtivi, Gamis Studia, September 9
Nino Ratishvili, host:
“Once I hosted a woman, who claimed during the TV program that there are homosexuals, who can have children and why are not we supporting them, and I told her, “you have daughters and probably you will gladly marry your daughter off to such person. But she said “how” and I responded “do you want to marry off my daughter”… Let them offer us what they want for their own families. We do not want and why should we tolerate it?”

Asaval-Dasavali, September 16-22
Dito Chubinidze, journalist: “The putsch, which was thwarted in Tbilisi overnight on June 20-21, was just supported by LGBT herd with Giorgi Maisuradze disclosed of tail wagging and depraved pederasts associated with him standing behind. Shortly speaking, all of them were and are still confronting Georgia together – notorious Kitovani’s armored soldiers and Giorgi Maisuradze’s pederasts!”

Sakinform, September 25
Arno Khidirbegishvili, editor-in-chief of Sakinform:
“Several days ago, Khazaradze said that Russian businessman of Georgian origin, millionaire Levan Vasadze with close ties with the Russian Orthodox Church is his friend and “a very good person.” It was just him who thwarted the Tbilisi Pride in June that prompted Saakashvili to change a scenario and portray Gavrilov as the reason of the June 20-21 unsuccessful coup! It appears that the gay people persecuted by Vasadze are supported by Khazaradze! Years ago Khazaradze, who is bathing famous depraved people in the money seized from Georgian people, introduced the Saba Literary Prize for nasty-tongued pederasts, “toilet” poets and evil spirits glorifying incest!”

Georgia and World, September 25
Jaba Zhvania, journalist:
“As for that part of the population who, despite multi-year propagandistic pressure by “liberal media outlets,” do not accept an individual’s unnatural state (homosexuality) as normal, number of this category of people, according to the [NDI] survey, does not increase and is maintained at 44% for years.”

Clerics

Asaval-Dasavali, September 9-15
Davit Kvlividze, archpriest: “God will repay everyone! If immoral members of NGOs and depraved officials sitting in the Georgian government do not repent, not only they, but Georgian people will also have to answer for not countering immorality, for electing immoral government, for giving way to homosexuality and other depravities! Not only separate depraved people, but the entire nation will have to answer for ignoring immorality! Therefore, it will be decisive whether voters say no to immoral and depraved candidates during the 2020 elections!”

Georgia and World, September 25
Giorgi Razmadze, a cleric:
“This time, it [NDI survey] aims at creating a feeling of hopelessness among the conservative part of the society, which represents the majority. One of the theses of liberals is that nationality and keeping traditions is darkness, which cannot endure for years, because they confront progress. As far as concrete figures are concerned, they wrote that 27% of population deems it important to promote LGBT rights. Thus, the question arises – if 27% of Georgian population makes up at least 300-400 thousand people, why cannot they bring more than 300 or 400 people to protect homosexuals?”

Society

Asaval-Dasavali, September 9-15
Giorgi Guledani [section – Kviris Posta]: “The June 20-21 rally still continues in front of the Parliament building though it has diminished. Obviously, it is spearheaded by ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili from Ukraine. LGBT people, drug users and various traitors of the country are also involved in the rally. It is difficult to see and hear their speeches from the main avenue in the capital.”

Asaval-Dasavali, September 16-22
Jaba Tkemaladze, medical doctor: “It is high time for our society to make correct emphasis and instead of talking about senseless issues, such as gender equality or protection of the rights of people with different sexual orientation, to talk about those horrible problems which pose a threat to our existence on the world map.”

Interpressnews, September 25
Levan Vasadze, businessman
: “To say nothing about the fact that a permanent rally inspired and sponsored by the most shameless people in the country is called ‘It’s a shame’… Everything is upside down; lack of dignity speaks about dignity; a slave teaches us freedom and calls national-minded people slaves. People using violence condemn violence; prostitutes – prostitution, homosexuals – unmanly behavior… It is the part, which whines with the enemy, provoking it to launch a war and then runs away from this war, crawling on the land, which pulls trousers down and shows naked buttocks to the enemy, swears and then buggers in the Night Club in the name of patriotism, saying ‘why do not you defend Georgia, you Putin’s slaves.’”
