I was delighted by the many replies to last week’s Q&A. What I didn’t expect was the number of you who have chosen to pick a word that represents what you want most for the coming year. Thank you all so much for sharing these with me. I LOVE the positivity and measured reflection each word demonstrates!

The Property Sisters of Montana Insider News

My editor is the bomb. She’s hands-on, considerate of my process, and smart as heck! She gets me, but she’s a writer, too, so she knows it’s easy to drift off track for one reason or another. She also knows exactly how to nudge me back to where I’d originally intended to go. This is a gift I never take for granted.

So, with MONTANA BLUEPRINT FOR LOVE, she loved my hero, Boone, but found my heroine, Ruby, a bit…um…indecisive. Wishy-washy might be a better word. Eldest daughter Ruby always tried a bit too hard to keep the peace and please her parents, so, yes, she could be seen as too cautious.

Thank heavens for REVISIONS. Ruby still likes things to go smoothly, but she isn’t shy about standing up for herself, her sisters, her choices—and even Boone! #TeamRuby

Ruby dragged herself into her parents’ home around midnight. She’d debated about spending the night with Boone, but the reality of a predawn wake-up call from Amber made her bite the bullet and slip away. She felt good—no, better than good—she felt rock solid with Boone. The only thing hanging in the balance between them was her parents.
In the morning, she’d break the news about the wedding and the decision she and Boone had come to a few hours ago about the business. Before she could tiptoe upstairs, her mother emerged from the kitchen, a glass of wine in hand. “Did you and Amber get everything set up?”
“Amber is a beast. When I left, she and Trey Brandel were still naming and uploading Uncle August’s art pieces.” The truth. Just not the whole truth.
      “Did Boone come back?”
She looked at Ruby in a way Ruby remembered from high school. “You’re going through with it, aren’t you?”
Ruby was tired of tiptoeing through life. “With what? Taking over Dad’s share of Summit or getting married?”
She looked at the glass of wine in her mother’s hand. “Got another one of those?”

Next week, I’ll share a bit from the newly revised Book II: MEET ME IN MONTANA. This time, my editor love, love, loved my heroine but had issues with my hero. Ironic, no?

Does that mean she could go either way for Book III? Will she like them both or hate them both? Gulp. Guess I’ll find out once I finish the book. #amwriting

Shall we call this hairy dilemma a “Bad Hair day” and keep this video between us?

Last week’s Q&A was: Resolutions: Yes or No?

WOW! I was surprised to learn 99.8% of you said quite emphatically: “NO!”

My two randomly selected winners this week are:

Faye Farmer – NO
Heather Dyer – NO

(And, by the way, a new year resets the clock, so to speak, for my winners. Even if your name was selected in 2019, you’re eligible again in 2020. I just try to pick a different name each week to reach more people.)

(Faye and Heather congrats. Please email me your pick of either a $5 Starbucks or a $5 Amazon gift card.)

This week’s Q&A: Have you ever been fired or had to fire someone?

Asking for my heroine, Ruby. In MONTANA BLUEPRINT FOR LOVE, the story opens with her driving home to tell her family the news: “I was fired.”

(Two winners will be chosen by random drawing to receive either a $5 Starbucks gift card or a $5 Amazon gift card. Please reply the usual ways: email or on my DebraSalonenAuthor Facebook page.)

Next week: A 99¢ bargain book—you heard it here first. And…pics of our new RV. Oh, wow, I didn’t see that coming.
