December 7 is our last meeting for 2022.
Should be a fun night with lots of awards to be handed out.
- Paul Burke Awards for most popular pic as voted by members
- Club Person for 2022
- Image Maker of the Year
- Awards for being best in your grade
- President's Encouragement award
We will also be handing out a number of VAPS Year Bars* for the year ending 2021 which were presented at this year's VAPS convention.
Rob has compiled a slideshow of various KPS members doing various things at various KPS events so let's hope you weren't caught doing anything you shouldn't have!
We will close the evening with supper and social time.
Be there!

What
are VAPS Year Bars?
Year
Bars are a VAPS (Victorian Association of Photographic Societies)
awards to members of VAPS affiliated clubs for years of continuous
active participation within a club.
The
rules to qualify for the awards are set by VAPS. The awards
we will be handing out on December 7 were actually for the year
2021 and were issued at the VAPS Convention earlier this year. The
awards are for 10 years, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 years. The next lot will
be awarded at the VAPS convention at Colac in June 2023.
We
hope the following members will be able to attend to receive their
awards.
10
Years: Gai Collens, Kim Wormald, Noel Butcher, Janette Anderson, Kathy
Willis.
15
Years: Martin Rowe
30
Years: Rob Sloane
Congratulations
and thank you. We will have more next year.
VAPS
does make 2 other awards based on submissions:
Meritorious
Service Award: For outstanding service at a VAPS affiliated club.
VAPS sets a minimum number of years, and would normally consider
things like serving on the committee, doing club presentations,
educational classes, organizing/helping with outings,
organizing/helping with exhibitions, organizing and helping with
interclubs, organizing/helping with club community events such as
festivals, seniors week, council events etc. for a person to qualify.
State
Service Award, SSVAPS: This is currently the highest VAPS award. For
outstanding service at a club and state level. To qualify you would
need some of the things in the Meritorious award, plus other things
such judging or giving talks at other clubs, serving on the VAPS
committee, helping with conventions, presenting at VAPS events etc.
Hopefully
we will see some KPS members qualify for these in the future.
