Two Foundations

What We Do Before The Storm Is More Important Than What We Do In The Storm

Facing storms is a predictable part of life. How we prepare and respond to the storms is what really matters. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus explains the difference between those who choose to build their life on rock and those who build their life on sand. Listening to the things Jesus is teaching prepares us to weather the storms. You can survive the storm by doing the following:

• Listening To What Jesus Says
• Acting On What Jesus Says

It Matters Where You Build

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus teaches that a house built upon a rock, or in other words, a firm foundation, will withstand the storm. But a house built upon the sand, a weak foundation, will collapse when the storm comes. By following Jesus and listening to Him we build our lives on a solid foundation. This is critical to be ready for the storms. 

A Life Built On Jesus Will Stand

When the storms come, everyday life will shift in many directions but you will withstand the storm by choosing to put Jesus first and keeping Him as your solid foundation. Charles Spurgeon wrote "I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages."
