The Conestoga Hospitality & Culinary Arts Virtual Job Fair is taking place on January 25, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Whether you are recruiting for full-time, Co-op, part-time or seasonal positions, the Job Fair is an excellent opportunity to connect with talented students eager to apply their hospitality and culinary skills to your business.

The Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) is asking tourism and hospitality businesses to complete an anonymous and confidential survey to understand the challenges faced by those working in the tourism and hospitality industry, increased pressures they’ve faced during the pandemic and how these factors might contribute to the current labour crisis.

TIAO will share the results of the survey with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries to help inform government decision-making to address the labour crisis.

Your participation in the survey helps to provide a full picture of what is driving our industry’s labour crisis.

Here is your chance to put your business out-front with a fun, creative video that lets people know why #YouGottaShopHereWR!

Introduce your business, showcase a product or service, and the Chambers of Commerce of Greater KW and Cambridge, along with their #yougottashophereWRpartners, will share your video with the Waterloo Region community. Submitted videos will be hosted on the #yougottashophereWR website and partner social media platforms.

The Sport Hosting Office (SHO) has been busy working with several groups to bring sporting events to our region.

Recent successes include:

• The Kitchener Rangers will host the 2022 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game at The Aud on February 2, 2022.
• The 2022 Ontario Volleyball Championships (OVA), which are scheduled for April 2022 and will be hosted jointly between Waterloo and Mississauga
• the Canada/USA Para Ice Hockey Series taking place in January 2022 in Elmira, and is the final tune-up event for the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing

Searches on the Explore Waterloo Region website indicate people are still looking for heated outdoor patios they can enjoy during our cooler months.

The Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery been awarded the Ontario Museum Association (OMA) Award of Excellence in Publications for its exhibition catalogue, Public Art in Glass. This award demonstrates the gallery’s commitment to supporting artists and sharing unique and engaging programs with the public regionally and nationally.

Congratulations also to Katharine Bourgon, a Gallery volunteer, who received an OMA Award of Excellence for Volunteer Service.
