Introducing our New Outreach Partners from Austria

Nate and Bethany Johnson

The Johnsons are missionaries in the heart of Europe. They will enjoy sharing more information with us on Sunday. World War II caused much conflict in the Christian community and resulted in many centuries-old churches closing their doors. Nate and Bethany focus on church planting in Austria where there are only a few gospel-preaching churches in high population areas.

Join us Sunday after the service for a reception to welcome them to CCLW.

CCLW Nominations Committee

To Our CCLW Church Family,

We are asking for those interested in serving on the Nominations Committee to please submit either your name or the name of someone you believe would be a good candidate for the positions listed below. Please submit the name(s) by email to Karen@CCLW.org and be sure to ask the individual's permission before doing so. All names should be submitted no later than August 13th.

The purpose of the Nominations Committee is to select candidates whose names have been provided by the congregation for the following positions:

1) Foundations Committee
2) Deacons
3) Leadership Council

This committee will meet between the months of September to December, so it is a short commitment. They will interview the candidates and vote for the next person to serve on the three committees listed above. Once the candidates have been selected, the Committee will dissolve.

Thank You!

A huge thank you to all of those who donated to the Summer Give. Because of the generosity of CCLW, we delivered 3,293 pounds of pantry needs to the Clover Area Assistance Center. Those items will make a huge difference in the lives of so many in our community. There has been a significant increase in households going to CAAC for assistance. This past June alone, they served 40% more households compared to June 2023. CAAC would not be able to help as many people without our support. This year CCLW has donated 6,807 pounds of pantry items between our two Missions supported events; the Big Give and the Summer Give. Together we make an impact! Thank you!

Contemporary Class New Study

The Contemporary Class will begin a new study on Sunday, August 11, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 201.

Pastor Louie Giglio’s book, Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table is based on Psalm 23 and will be discussed from August 11 – September 8 (5 weeks).

This Small Group enjoys much conversation each week hoping to better understand how God wants us to live our lives in this world today. We have a new Teaching Leader each week and we welcome new people into our class.

Family Ministry Team

The Family Ministry committee has a planning meeting set for Sunday, August 18 directly after the worship service in Room 116. Past, current and future members are all welcome as we seek to grow this vital ministry. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the 2024-2025 school year. Volunteer needs in this committee include community outreach, planning and organizing activities as well as activity implementation. Kids and Youth Sunday

Join us Sunday, August 25th, for Kids and Youth Sunday!

Our children and youth will be involved in many aspects of the service. All children will enjoy the service with their parents. The children will be invited to the front for a special message from Pastor Ryan and will have the opportunity to sing a specially prepared song for our congregation. We hope to see you there as we include our youngest and future generation of the church.

Reminder About Scams

CCLW family, please beware of scammers who like to impersonate pastors and ask people for money or gift cards. This is a sad but common occurrence in countless churches these days. If you are unsure about an email coming from Ryan, verify that it has come from his actual email address (ryan@cclw.org). You can also look for his email signature that has our church logo on it.

No one from our staff will ever ask you for money or gift cards.

Young at Heart Biltmore Trip

Our trip to the Biltmore Estate is reserved and Biltmore is awaiting our arrival!

For those attending, make sure to arrive at the church parking lot by 9 a.m. on Monday, August 26th.

Family Table

If you enjoy snacks from the Family Table before the service, please consider baking or buying something yummy to share. Just bring your treats to the kitchen any Sunday morning. We will take care of the rest! This is a great opportunity to fellowship and show hospitality to our guests.

Sunday Service Parking

As our church attendance grows, so does the demand for accessible parking nearer the sanctuary. Please be considerate and refrain from parking in the designated handicapped spots and the striped places in the handicapped areas unless you have the proper license plate or placard designation. Also, please do not park in the passenger pick-up areas. Thank you.

FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR THE BLESSING BOX

Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC) prevailed on CCLW to install a mini pantry (Blessing Box) in 2023. The canned goods left in the box are intended for the local homeless as well as families who need help stretching their food supply. CAAC reports that since COVID, they have seen a large uptick in Lake Wylie residents needing food assistance, and that is why we have the Blessing Box on the parking lot side of our church (follow the signs from highway 49).

We need your help. In order to keep this pantry filled with appropriate foodstuffs, we ask that you buy a few extra cans of food (see the separate list) when you are grocery shopping each week. Simply place them directly in the Blessing Box or put them on the table in Room 116. A member of the Missions Committee will do the rest.

Thank you for this ongoing support. Our local community continues to grow and with that growth comes new challenges. Feeding the homeless and helping families are responsibilities in which we can help.
