Co-designing the digital infrastructure is co-designing the ability to be a civilization. A civilization is an endeavor and hard work based on truth, knowledge, and learning. If we lose it, we lose everything.
We need it the most.
Lawmakers are doing their part of the job, and the GDPR makes you accountable with GDPR rights. They are here to train the muscles for purposeful and conscious data processing.
Organizations need to uphold these rights, and the Data Protection Authorities (e.g. GBA in Belgium) are in place to fine if they fail.
The 8 GDPR rights are:
- The right to information
- The right of access
- The right to rectification
- The right to erasure
- The right to restrict processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object
- The right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing.
Why would you not use your rights? It benefits all of us, including fair competition between organizations. That's why I use them, and that's why I am a member of NOYB. Support them too.
Here is a calendar with more upcoming legislation.
