IMB has issued a general warning stating:
General warning robbery incidents continue to rise at Callao Anchorage. Fifteen reports have been received to date. There may be more that have not been reported. There has been a sudden increase in the last few weeks and within two weeks, three incidents have been reported at Callao anchorage, where robbers armed with knives have boarded vessels. All vessels are advised to maintain a vigilant anti-piracy watch and take precautionary measures, especially at anchorages. Early assessment/detection will allow ships to take evasive measures to prevent boarding and request for assistance. Report all attacks and suspicious sightings to local authorities and to the IMB piracy reporting centre as per IMO circular 1334.
