TradeUSA Workshop "Prepare - Plan - Execute"
Τη Δευτέρα 14 Μαϊου 2018, το Τμήμα TradeUSA του Ελληνο-Αμερικανικού Εμπορικού Επιμελητηρίου σε συνδιοργάνωση με τον Επιμελητηριακό Όμιλο Ανάπτυξης Ελληνικών Νησιών (Ε.Ο.Α.Ε.Ν.) και το Επιμελητήριο Λέσβου, πραγματοποίησε σεμινάριο στη Μυτιλήνη. Το σεμινάριο παρακολούθησαν επιχειρηματίες που δραστηριοποιούνται στον αγροδιατροφικό κλάδο, με τα προϊοντικά τους χαρτοφυλάκια να περιλαμβάνουν κυρίως ελαιόλαδο, ούζο και ελιές. Οι εκπρόσωποι είχαν την ευκαιρία, μέσω των ομιλιών εξειδικευμένων στελεχών, να αποκτήσουν πολύτιμες γνώσεις σχετικά με σημαντικά θέματα που αφορούν στην αμερικανική βιομηχανία τροφίμων και ποτών και τους καταναλωτές της.

On May 5, the U.S. FDA finalized its new compliance deadlines for changes to its food labeling rules. Companies have just 1.5 years (2.5 for small businesses) to comply with the changes. Companies should begin making the changes now, as the process of re-testing for newly required nutrients, re-designing, re-printing, and re-labeling can take a significant amount of time.

Specialty Snacks Drive 70 Percent of Category Growth
Health, wellness, and specialty products are driving a disproportionate number of sales in the nearly $90 billion snack industry, with such items accounting for 20 percent of products and 70 percent of dollar sales growth, said Molly Hjelm, vice president of marketing for SPINS at the Sweets & Snacks Expo, Tuesday.
The rice cake segment is the fastest growing category with sales spiking 45.7 percent, followed by frozen desserts, up 17.7 percent, and candy, growing 11.7 percent.

Organic sales in the U.S. totaled a new record of $49.4 billion in 2017, up 6.4 percent from the previous year, according to the Organic Trade Association. The organic food market hit $45.2 billion in sales, also breaking through to a new record for an increase of 6.4 percent, while sales of organic non-food products rose 7.4 percent to $4.2 billion.
