The Silent Companions
Do you read horror? I donât usually, as I have the "highly sensitive person" trait and graphic stuff really gets to me. Plus it seems like more times than not, the endings are dark (along with the whole rest of the story, lol). But as a teen I loved it! I read Stephen King and even The Exorcist (that one I kinda wish I could extract from my brain). Anyway, The Silent Companions was left in the condo where we stayed over vacation (which if youâve read the book, is kinda creepy in itself). Itâs a Victorian era gothic horror story with witchy elements, and since I just finished writing a Victorian era witchy gothic romantic mystery with ghosty elements, I couldnât resist!
This book is so clever, and a real page-turner. I wasnât able to finish it on vacation, and ended up buying the e-book. Iâd never heard of the silent companions the book is based onâI hope I never meet one! This story is creepy, atmospheric, suspenseful, and truly terrifying. And yes, graphic and brutal at times, so be ye warnedâprobably nothing that would shock someone who reads horror regularly.
