"It's been a hard year brotha... it's been a hard year"
When I shoot street photography, I love to shoot street portraits of strangers. We talk, I shoot. Fujifilm X100S, ISO 200, f/2.8, 1/500 sec.

Today's imagebreak is coming to you from one of our subscribers, Antonie Didienne.

"I am a French-born/San Diego living photographer. I discovered the medium due to a social enterprise I co-founded back in 2012. Even though I have almost always worked on the periphery of storytelling in my career, I only bought my first camera in my mid-thirties. It was a slow burn at first but it quickly became an obsession once I understood the purpose and power of photography".

"Loneliness"
This old woman living on the ground floor of her retirement home was passing the time watching strangers go by. Fujifilm X100S, ISO250, 23mm, f/2, 1/2000 sec.

My photography style is the result of my life experiences. I know it seems pretty obvious but it does not make it any less true or unworthy to mention. After living more than half my life outside of France (my home country), I consider that I am perpetual observer looking in. But it’s all good— that way, I always have something to be curious about, to discover. Because of this, I love to immerse myself in and connect to the environment I live in. That’s why so much of my photography is documentary based. Whether I shoot weddings, street or in-studio portraits my attention is always more focused on the fact if I connect with my subject rather than on the technical perfection of my shot. It is no wonder then that my photography heroes are all documentarians or photojournalists.

"Jess, Navy Vet"
Jess is my father in law. He does not speak much. He is a man's man, a mensch, a Navy vet. I was surprised he posed for me. Fujifilm X-T3, XF18mm f/2, ISO400, f/8, 1/200 sec. Softbox illuminating straight on the subject with Gdox TT350-F speedlight.
