Here are some ways to handle difficult people at work:

  • Keep calm and manage your own emotions first.
  • Learn more about the difficult person.
  • Try to understand his or her views first by listening carefully.
  • State your views clearly and in an assertive manner.
  • Try to agree on some points and agree to disagree on others.
  • Solicit the opinions of co-workers to justify your views.
