CMP bids farewell to Diane Tecic, Program Director, after 11 years of service
At the end of July, Illinois Coastal Management Program’s Director Diane Tecic retired from her position at IDNR. Diane has been part of our Coastal Management Program since its inception. She joined the Program in 2011 as a Manager and later expanded her leadership role in the Director position. Previous to her work with the Coastal Program, Diane worked as a biologist and then a regional administrator in IDNR's Division of Natural Heritage.
As Program Director, Diane was a creative thinker, a champion for diversity, and a passionate leader always ready to tackle even the most daunting issues. Under Diane's guidance the Program grew in its reach and impact. She was instrumental in forming new partnerships and collaborating with other organizations, always striving for a greater collective impact. She helped take a new program and turn it into a well-regarded partner for other federal and state agencies, as well as a resource hub for many other organizations working in the coastal region. She was an optimistic, big-picture thinker who pursued solutions to complicated issues such as regional shoreline sediment management. She excelled at listening to what the needs of the region are and figuring out how the Coastal Program can assist. At the same time, she was always open to learning and adapting, believing in flexibility and responsiveness.
Her optimism, passion, and relentless drive shined through in everything that she did with the Coastal Program. All of us at CMP will miss Diane greatly. We extend sincere thanks to Diane for her leadership and commitment to the Program and wish her all the best as she enjoys her retirement!
