The Loaded Dog - 7.30pm
Cap In Hand are Dave “Fingers” Spira and Nigel “Muddy” Walters. Dave plays exquisite finger style acoustic guitar in a range of open tunings while Nigel is an accomplished vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. (Cello mandolin, guitar, dulcimer, harmonica, piano, spoons and more). Dave and Nigel have performed on radio and at folk clubs and festivals throughout New South Wales and beyond. They are both fine musicians and entertainers. With influences including Nic Jones, Martin Simpson, Richard Thompson, Joni Mitchell and David Francey their music ranges from traditional to contemporary. In addition they both write many of the songs and tunes that they perform.
Daniel Kelly – I like to collect and record folk ballads, mostly from Ireland, Scotland and England. Recordings are available on my YouTube channel. Most of the songs, being 100s of years old, have already been written about extensively. However, if something particularly interests me I will write about it on this blog. I perform regularly around the Yass area in Australia, at festivals, local cafés and markets. I write my own music, mostly in the style of traditional ballads, and have released a few of my own albums, more information here.
Annandale Neighbourhood Centre (back hall) 79 Johnson St, Annandale
Doors open 7pm for 7.30 start with a few floor spots, then 30 mins from each act before and after supper.

Mothers of the Nation - 8pm
Mothers of the Nation band celebrate female strength and resistance through song.
This year Cliona Molins & Rosie McDonald were approached by Parramatta Female Factory Friends inc. to write a song to commemorate the bicentenary of the opening of the Parramatta Female Factory that was held Feb 2021. Cliona & Rosie ended up writing 4 draft songs & following consultations with the committee members & historians all 4 songs were accepted & honed so they had historical validity as well as creative integrity.
The story & commemoration of the Female factory is a highly significant National event given the Factory is the earliest female convict site in Australia. The stories of the women & children go to the heart of the Australian Identity - they are stories of separation & loss & yet stories of hope, resilience & remarkable survival. These songs hope to reveal some of the many hidden & often untold stories of the female convicts from whom an estimated 1 in 7 Australians are descended. The stories of convict women of the Female Factory Parramatta, with acknowledgement to their indigenous sisters, became the song suite 'Mothers of the Nation' which was recorded late 2020 with Ann Palumbo as producer & Rosie's son Bowen Shakallis (Stranded studio) at the New Church, Roseville venue. The CD was mastered by Andy Busittil at Blue Mountains sound.
Gaelic Club 1/64 Devonshire Street Surry Hills
