Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The SDPI program is currently authorized at $150 million per year. However, a two percent sequestration fee was added to this fiscal period, further reducing the available funding to $147 million. Tribal Consultation on the SDPI funding for 2023 is now open and scheduled to conclude on May 15, 2022.
The Nashville Area IHS has scheduled a Regional Tribal Consultation on Wednesday, May 4 2:30 - 4:00 pm EDT/1:30 - 3:00 pm CDT (letter here). The Webex Meeting Link for connecting to the May 4th IHS NAO Consultation is https://hhs-ihs.webex.com/hhs-ihs/j.php?MTID=m37d8ac14db8708571d99bccf418cbf91. You may also join by phone (415) 527-5035 Access Code: 2764 675 6624. We will be providing Talking Points for your consideration and use in advance of this consultation.
Additionally, the USET SDPI Team will hold a preparatory meeting in advance on May 2, 2022, 2:00 - 3:00 pm EDT/1:00 - 2:00 pm CT to brief all interested Federally Recognized Tribal Nations in the IHS Nashville Area about all that we are aware of concerning the 2023 new 5-year grant cycle. Please register in advance for our call here. To add to your calendar, please click here.
After the May 4th consultation, we will provide a comment template for your consideration and use to help achieve a unified voice from the region. The deadline to submit comments is May 15th. Once the consultation period ends, the Tribal Leaders Diabetes Committee (TLDC) will review comments during their June meeting and submit final recommendations to Acting IHS Director Fowler for review. It is imperative that your Tribal Nations' voices are heard during this Consultation/Confer period. Letters on the IHS website are linked below for your review and consideration:
