Bristol artist exhibits at Royal Academy
after 22 years of rejections

Bristol artist Vincent Michael Brown has been selected to exhibit in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the first time, bringing to an end a remarkable 22-year journey of submissions to the world's most prestigious open-entry art exhibition.
The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, held annually in London since 1769, attracts around thirty two thousand entries from
eighteen thousand artists around the world.
Selection is highly competitive, making acceptance a significant
milestone in an artist's career.
For Brown, the news carries particular meaning. "I've been submitting work to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition since 2004. To finally receive that acceptance feels surreal. As artists, we're often told that persistence matters, but there are moments when you begin to wonder whether your work will ever connect with the right people at the right time. This acceptance is a reminder that perseverance can pay off."
Known for his highly accomplished figurative and portrait work, Brown has built a respected career that includes works in public and private collections, numerous national and international exhibitions, and a series of award-winning paintings. Despite these achievements, exhibiting at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition remained a long-held ambition.
The Summer Exhibition opens at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, London, 16th of June, until 23rd of August, and will feature works selected from thousands of submissions across painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, architecture and other disciplines.

The Lemonade Press Stone
Lithography Summer School, 6 - 10 July

This five-day format allows for more in depth development of images, ideas, to test out new techniques and build skills. Suitable for artists with some previous experience of lithographic printmaking. Each participant will be able to make their own prints during the week and will have the opportunity for individual tutor time to discuss a way forward with their work.
Learn about drawing, etching and printing traditional German limestone, as well as an introduction to using marble and welsh limestone as well more advanced image making techniques such as lo – shu and maniere noire.
Lemonade Pres has also developed non – toxic alternative to asphaltum which is in use in the studio.
Get the chance to practice and experiment with this wonderfully expressive process under the guidance of experienced tutors.
Students will have 24 hour access to the studio and some materials will be available for purchase directly. The idea is that participants are able to put the acquired knowledge into practice independently once the instruction hours are over.
Accommodation, food and travel are not included in the course cost.
