Nobel Laureate gives Schumpeter lecture

The SME Assembly 2020 was unique for many reasons, but one of those was having, for the first time, a Nobel laureate as one of the keynote speakers. This year Professor Joseph Stiglitz gave the Schumpeter Innovation in Enterprise Lecture, touching on the economic impacts of the pandemic, the role of innovation in transforming our economic system from dependence on fossil fuels to renewables; and his hopes for the new US administration.

His inspiring lecture is now available to watch in full on our YouTube channel if you missed it, or would like to listen again. You can also read the highlights and his key points over on the News Portal.

SME Week Youth Essay Competition 2020

Another exciting part of this year’s SME Assembly was the highly anticipated finals of this year’s SME Week Youth Essay Competition. This year saw our three youth finalists, Georgina Whiteman, Pablo Pastor Vidal and Sabine Kerssens, competing for delegate votes with their ideas on SME resilience in times of COVID and how EU policy can best aid entrepreneurs.

After a live vote Sabine Kerssens was announced as this year’s winner, congratulations Sabine! Read her winning entry on the News Portal and stay tuned to the YouTube channel to witness her winning moment.
