Hi new and old friends!
I'm finding it harder and harder to send out my monthly newsletters on time, so here is yet another late issue.
April was a strange month. Like many of you, I got fully vaccinated (woo hoo!), but not without drama. For my second dose, my vaccine card was almost returned to another woman name Margarita, who upon hearing the nurse called "Stella" in Spanish, still thought it was a good idea to accept the card. When the nurse asked me if I was Margarita, I knew she messed up. I said: "Uh, no." Wait, it gets better.
The nurse chased down the real Margarita, got my card back, and tried to discharge me without giving me the shot! If someone had dementia, they would have forgotten that they did not get the shot and upon being discharged, they may think they are now fully vaccinated, but are in fact, not.
When I finally got the shot, high fever spiked several times the next day. Extreme body ache, chills, headache and nausea followed. By 9pm that night, all of it was gone suddenly. What an unusual experience!
It's still not the end. I felt great the next day after the fever was gone, but by Monday morning, I was feeling breathless, dizzy, weak in limbs and a very heavy head. It seems eerily similar to a blood clot. Rushed myself to the hospital, received IV, did 5 tests, turned out I am fine.
Now that the vaccine saga is behind me, I'm happy to say that the rest of it was less dramatic. I had the pleasure of interviewing many wonderful guests who graciously agreed to be interviewed for my new video/audio interview series Creative Office Hour by Path Unbound. I can't tell you how many amazingly inspirational quotes we got from these interviews.
Speaking of my school, we now have a growing number of paid enrollments after our first pilot cohort testers are graduating one by one!
On a slightly less upbeat note, I am in deep international import and logistics hell as my furniture is about to be shipped to the US from China, where my design prototype is currently wrapping up manufacturing. I have now decided to rename the brand X-Ordinary Home and am currently in the process of designing for the brand identity.
Plus, now I have consolidated all of my pass email newsletters so if you joined later, you can still see my previous emails, all in one place!
