Welcome to the July edition of E-News.  This month we're delighted to announce another fun event at the Farm.  This time at the City Farm Nursery.  Check it out!  

Now the Farm is coming back to life again, we have added several new Sustainable Living Workshops to the schedule, including a 2 day Introduction to Permaculture later in the year. 

Earth Kids is back on track with Winter Earth Kids having been a sold out event and an enriching experience for all involved.  We've included a link to pics so you can see what we mean!

Earth Arts is picking up again and we're starting to see the play groups return and young people immerse themselves in meaningful play and exploration.

We have some news too about volunteering for those of you keen to get involved at the Farm.

CITY FARM NURSERY

Come join us at City Farm Nursery for the City Farm Ekka Festival Fundraiser.

For a gold coin donation, join us in the Nursery for a City Farm Style EKKA inspired afternoon and enjoy great plant specials, games, trivia, a raffle, drinks, food and music. Bring your friends and family for an uplifting evening out and to help support Northey Street City Farm.

This EKKA fundraiser is a Covid safe Event and Current Safety procedures will be practiced.

VOLUNTEER WORKING BEES

Dick Copeman will be leading volunteer working bees in the orchards and forest gardens at the farm on the second Sunday of each month, for the remainder of this year. We will be pruning, harvesting, weeding, planting and making signs. No experience is required but experienced volunteers are always appreciated.

Times and Dates:   8.00 to 10.00am

  • 8th November
  • 13th December

Meet at the garden shed on the other side of Edgar St from the market. Please wear closed footwear. 

Combine your market shopping with some pleasant work with others amongst our trees.

Earth Arts is free outdoor learning through creative play engaging with earth, air, fire and water while encouraging diversity and cultural inclusion.

Play groups happen at the Farm on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9am.  Also, during the Sunday Organic Farmers Market.  Earth Arts is in the playground area.  

All ages welcome.

Donations are accepted though not required.

Parents or carers are responsible for children at all times.

Introduction to Permaculture with Michael Wardle - Nov 28 & 29

Come to explore an overview of permaculture through the eyes of the ethics and design principles. This course tackles how to grow food, build houses and create communities, and minimize environmental impact at the same time. Its principles are being constantly developed and refined by people throughout the world.

Join us for two days to learn the basics of permaculture design. The course aims to inspire and empower you to use permaculture design in your everyday life.

You will learn the history, various definitions, design process, ethics, principles, other design tools and case studies from a range of applications.

FARM MEMBERSHIP

Did you know you can get a 10% discount at our Nursery by becoming a member of our Farm?   We love to see people supporting the Farm by becoming members. You can become a member on our website, at the Nursery or by contacting the Office on 07 3857 8775 or at info@nscf.org.au.

FARM DONATIONS 

The Farm does not rely on Government Funding for its operations. We operate as a social enterprise running the City Farm Nursery, Sunday Organic Farmers Market, and Permaculture Education.  We appreciate the financial support of our community, if you are able please donate by visiting our website.  

We also have an Australian First Nations Scholarship Fund and if you wish to donate to this please contact Adnan, E: finance@nscf.org.au to confirm this is where you would like your donation to land.

As a not for profit charity, all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

VOLUNTEERS

We're planning on recommencing recruitment and inductions for new volunteers in September dependent on any changes to COVID-19 restrictions.

ALLOTMENTS

If you currently hold one of the Northey Street allotments your annual fee was due in June.  Please let us know if you no longer want your allotment so we can pass it on to someone else.

FARM TOURS Tours are on hold until September dependent on any changes to COVID-19 restrictions.  Keep an eye on our social media for any updates.
