Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of Commerce’s Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Dr. Richard Spinrad, has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing a virtual Tribal Listening Session on funding received from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) (P.L. 117-169). The IRA provided $2.6 billion to NOAA for efforts aimed at conservation, restoration, and the protection of coastal and marine habitats and resources. These funds can also be used for climate resilience efforts to prepare for extreme storm events and other changing climate conditions. NOAA is seeking input from Tribal Nations on how these IRA funds can be utilized and what types of projects NOAA can potentially fund.
