MSU Reactivation of Research: A Template for College/Unit/Building Staging Plans

Following Senior Vice President Hsu’s statement last week with the document, Reactivating On-Site Research Operations at MSU During COVID-19: Preparing the Next Stages, MSU is providing direction for Colleges/Units/Buildings to consider as they make plans for reactivating research on campus. MSU's Professor Irene Xagoraraki Spotlight Research

MSU Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Irene Xagoraraki has developed and demonstrated a more advanced technology that enables not just measurement, but predictive capability for viral concentration in wastewater validated on the recent hepatitis outbreak in Detroit. She is now translating that capability to SARS-CoV-2. Click here to learn more.

New Agreement Portal for Researchers

The new MSU-T Agreement Portal is live on their website. We are requesting that researchers submit new agreement requests through the portal. Click here to view.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Ordering

In preparation for reactivation of research and other on-campus activities, we anticipate the need to provide PPE to employees who need to be on campus to perform their job functions, including experimental researchers and technicians. Click here to learn more.

The Office for Public Engagement and Scholarship (OPES) Virtual Forums

The Office for Public Engagement and Scholarship (OPES) hosted two virtual forums (April 24 and May 1) for MSU faculty, staff and students to share how their community-engaged research had been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the strategies, tools, and resources they were using to continue their work in ways that were ethical and appropriate. Click here to learn more.

Withrow Distinguished Scholar Award

The celebration may be remote, but the top faculty and staff awards in the MSU College of Engineering in 2020 stand as a testament to excellence and distinguished contributions even in the age of the novel coronavirus. Click here to learn more about the winning scholars.

Leap builds bold, unconventional programs and funds them at scale.

Programs that require best-in-class, multi-disciplinary, global teams from universities, companies, and non-profit labs working together to solve problems that they cannot solve alone. Leap is a DARPA for global health.

Working on an NIH Grant Application? Make Sure You Are Using the Right Forms!

NIH is transitioning to an updated set of application forms we refer to as FORMS-F. Use FORMS-F forms for grant application due dates on or after May 25, 2020 and FORMS-E for due dates on or before May 24, 2020.

Working From Home With Help!

To brighten everyone's week, DER is going to feature staff working from home with their furry friends who assist them! This week meet Mark and Kobi. Kobi is a 6-month-old lab mix and a proud spartan dawg. Kobi doesn’t mind working from home, but would much rather be running around outside digging holes and biting sticks!

If you would like to nominate a faculty member and their pets (or yourself!), email gatesmax@msu.edu
