Bringing smiles to our community!

Chit-chat, crochet and a cuppa!

Do you have a craft project to complete and would like some company?  If you would like to learn something new or share your crafty skills why not come down to the park on a Wednesday morning. Diane Bull runs the morning meet every week from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Tell your friends, neighbours and work colleagues.

Margaret (pictured) couldn't crochet 8 weeks ago, just look at her creation!

Alzheimer's charity fundraiser

We are happy to support a local group raising funds for Alzheimer's Research UK. Why not pop along to the park between 1pm and 4.30pm on Sunday 26th August. They will have a raffle, lucky dip, tombola, knitted items and decorated jars on sale at the café.

Stop by for a spot of cafe hospitality

We have a wide selection of food and beverages, including breakfasts, full lunches, cakes and desserts plus Stanford-le-Hope’s best Italian coffee and other hot drinks.

We also stock over 15 flavours of Rossi Ice Cream.

Customers can enjoy the warm and welcoming atmosphere inside the Cafe or relax and enjoy the peaceful park from our wonderful decking. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 4pm.

In order to constantly improve our services we will be conducting a survey in the café in the coming months. We would really appreciate you taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback. :0) Watch this space.

It takes a second to pop it in the right box!

At Hardie Park we care about the environment - here are our new recycling bins to help our customers and park users do their bit too!  We are in the process of transitioning to biodegradable or compostable consumables like straws, ice cream spoons and cups to reduce our footprint further. We consciously reuse plastic bags, we gather rainwater from our roof for watering and we encourage visitors to walk or cycle to the park rather than drive.

There is a recycling point in the cafe for household batteries. Remember to bring them down to Hardie Park to prevent them ending up in landfill.  Sustainability is high on our list, we are always looking for new ideas. If you've got some good ones, please get in touch!

Generous Rotary Club donation

We would like to say a HUGE Hardie Park THANK YOU to Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside for their generous donation of £500 towards our slide fund!

Rob Groves met with  Rotary Club president Gerry Buggle at the Springhouse Club recently to receive the cheque on behalf of Hardie Park.

We are really grateful for the donation. Our final goal is £25k.

Exciting new additions...

Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks. We are soon to welcome some new bins, new benches and new cycle parking. All helping to make our amazing space even better for the community.

We're recruiting for our EVENTS team

As you can see from the entries in this newsletter alone there's quite a schedule of events to plan at the park. If you are organised and forward thinking and would like to get involved we are actively seeking to expand our events team! Give Rob a ring on 07803 295374 or pop into the café for a chat. We'd love to have you on board!

Men’s Shed Project Fundraisers

Further to the success of the car show back in April the Men’s Shedders have scheduled some more dates for the autumn. Sunday 16th September, Classic Car and Craft Show then a further date on Sunday 14th October with an American Car twist. If you are a car enthusiast and would like to exhibit a vehicle at one of the events, please get in touch with Alan or Vic to book a space. Full details on the poster. (£2 charge per vehicle in advance, £3 on the day).

If you prefer motorcycles then why not visit the park on Sunday 28th October between 10am and 5pm. 1000 Bike Challenge 'National Biker Get Together' featuring Harleys, Customs, Vintage and Choppers, Halloween themed dress and a late light show. £2 per exhibit in advance / £3 on the gate. Visitors to the event are free. All enquires for this event to Alan Marks on 07731 953050

There has been progress with the development of the shed building over the summer and these type of events allow the shedders to engage more people and raise much needed cash to complete the build. We hope to see you there with your family, friends and grand-children.

Wheels in motion

During the last of our Bounce Days on Tuesday 21st August, Thurrock Council Cycle team paid us a visit. They are currently looking to set up community bike rides and offered adult cycle training whilst at the park. People who signed up for training received a free goody bag on completion of the course.  Dr Bike also attended offering free bike fixes on the day.

If you are interested in taking part in community bike rides email Kaye: KBorleyPotterton@thurrock.gov.uk

Read more about Dr Bike here. Many companies pay for Dr Bike to attend their workplace, to mend broken or neglected bikes as an incentive to get people to ride to work.
