In 1 Corinthians, speaking about Israel’s history, the Apostle Paul says “Now these things took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did.” It is important for us to consider Israel’s history as both a warning and an encouragement. This week as we turn to Judges chapter 9 we will be focusing more heavily upon the warning that their experiences give to us. Just like Israel, it is very easy for us to become complacent with the presence of sin in our lives. Sometimes, at least with certain sins, it is our belief that they are not all that detrimental. In fact, sometimes we deceive ourselves into believing that certain sins can be beneficial or advantageous to us. Come out this Sunday as we study the life of Abimelech and the truth that any and every form of sin is always destructive.

Scripture encourages us to think deeply on the state of our world, our place in it, and what God is doing about it. Join us as we humbly contemplate the problem of evil and suffering, and what, if anything, God in Christ is doing about it both now and in the future.
