The Friends and Foundation of the Camas Library (FFCL) have been busy! They held elections at their quarterly meeting in April, with Vangie Pattison and Kelsey Hartley retaining their roles as President and Secretary, respectively. In the coming months, Christy Hughes will be transitioning into the Vice President role as Rachel Peters goes on maternity leave (congrats to Rachel and Alan!). In addition, Suman Tasmin will assume the role of Treasurer as Kathleen Pisors transitions off the board. Thanks for your service, Kathleen!
FFCL volunteers were instrumental at the Library's 100th birthday party last month, giving out door prizes and helping with clean up (thank you!). They are also planning a cocktail party fundraiser for later this year to continue the centennial celebration. Stay tuned for details.
The Library has designed centennial tote bags, which will be sold by the FFCL starting at the May book sale. The book sale hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11 - Saturday, May 13, plus a $5 bag sale on Sunday, May 14 from 12 - 4 p.m. If you can't make any of those days or times, the daily sale next to the Children's Library is getting more popular by the day. Our curators for the daily sale, Joan Bruckner and Abby Dick, do a fabulous job of plucking the best and most sought-after donations for these shelves.
Finally, to help celebrate and educate on the Library's centennial, the Camas-Washougal Community Chest granted the FFCL $3,000 and the Rotary Club of Camas-Washougal granted $2,000. The FFCL also recently received $4,400 from the Chester and Marion Beals Memorial Fund as an unrestricted gift.
We are extremely appreciative of all that the FFCL does to fundraise and advocate for the Library. If you see one of the board members pictured above, please let them know they are highly valued!
