Issue #9

Final Issue

This will be the last issue of this Newsletter.

While the BRPG and BGE software still work just fine, especially since nVidia finally fixed the bug in their video card drivers that for years didn't allow the software to run on nVidia-equipped PCs, the damage was done, and the VTT audience has largely moved on to other products/offerings.

Despite repeated price drops on my software, to say that sales have slowed to a trickle would be an overstatement. Recent annoying spambot attacks on the forums have forced me to close off forum registrations. In short, the time has come to shut the website down.

I will probably retain the URL, but the website as you know it will cease to exist, and visitors to the site will likely simply be forwarded to my newer MapForge site.

I'd like to thank everyone who was a customer over the last 13-14 years. I've met some great people through this venture in that time.

I would also like to thank Omnidon for his generosity in providing Battlegrounds Games with a home on the net all this time. His offering his servers to host the website helped make staying in business this long possible.

Those who still use my software should take the opportunity to make their own permanent backups of artpacks (free and purchased), game conversions (ditto), and of course the software zips/installers, should they ever need to reinstall some or all of the above after a computer reformat, or whatever. I'll leave the files on the server until the end of the year.

I'll still be around to offer support to anyone who needs it, and the Battlegrounds Store will remain open until the site ceases to exist (probably next month), in case anyone needs to make any last-minute purchases (e.g. another Floating License, token set, etc.).

Henceforth, all my focus will be on my MapForge software.

The other Newsletter

The MapForge Newsletter will continue, of course, but that is a separate opt-in mailing list. You can subscribe to that here, if you haven't already done so.

We're into the last week of the MapForge Isometric campaign

The MapForge Isometric Kickstarter campaign has sadly been underperforming beyond all expectations. Most folks probably assume that it won't achieve minimum funding, at this point. I want to try to do everything possible to ensure it does. I could really use your help.

If any of you have been debating about whether or not to pick up a MapForge license, doing so during this Kickstarter campaign would be a great time to do so, even if you have no particular interest in isometric mapping (there are now 24 free content Add-Ons to get you started, almost exclusively top-down art).
