Pam and Robert Dowdy
After owning a weekend home on the lake for 20 years, Pam and Robert remodeled and moved here permanently 2-1/2 years ago from Cary, NC, where they had lived for 30 years. Their 3 adult children, Tecca, Trevor and Jessica, are married (and have given them six beautiful grandchildren!) and reside in Morristown, NJ, Sumter, SC and Charlotte. The Dowdys are an active couple who enjoy golf, pickleball, boating, reading, cooking, gardening and participating in activities with their family.
Pam said that many members of CCLW invited them to our church, and they always felt welcomed when they came. They enjoyed learning about our history and doctrinal beliefs and are interested in learning ways to become more engaged. They are already volunteers at CAAC and have worked on several community projects, including a cancer benefit for Levine Hospital. A wish of theirs is to eventually see a 9:00 a.m. Sunday worship service. Their favorite scripture is Matthew 5:1-16. They come to us from First United Methodist Church of Cary.
Robert was born in Argentina and lived there 14 years before his family relocated to Indiana where he attended Grace College and Indiana University where he played soccer. Pam grew up in the Cleveland/Akron area of Ohio where the couple made their home before moving to NC. After college Robert started his career as a soccer coach at the University of Akron, where he met Pam before transitioning into business in the insurance industry. After numerous roles in the industry, he finished his career as president of the Charlotte-based Premier Insurance Group for 11 years. Pam initially worked in human services for the YWCA in Akron and Raleigh before serving as director of Wake County Smart Start, an agency serving young children and families.
As reflected by their favorite scripture, the couple cite their favorite quote: People hear what you say and see what you do. Seeing is believing.
