Below you'll find a curated list of adult-friendly, outside-the-box ideas that are happening THIS month, so that you can book a babysitter, make reservations and plan a grownup night out weeks in advance. Some ideas are free (yeah!); others might be more of a splurge, and there is something for everyone.

Date night ideas coming up this month in Champaign-Urbana

Saturday Stargazing at Allerton Park: Plan a romantic evening that won't break the bank on Nov. 2. Enjoy a night of stargazing, finding constellations and spotting deep space objects through telescopes. Arrive early, brings snacks and play lawn games as the sun sets. The best views start at 8:45 p.m. with the event wrapping up by 10:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a telescope if they own one, but it is not required to participate. Cost is $5 per person. Registration is encouraged but you may also pay in-person the night of the event.

Thanksgiving Wine Tasting and Pairings: Yes, it's time to think about Thanksgiving. If you are a foodie who wants to make sure to pair your turkey with good libations, check out this Nov. 6 event at Harvest Market in Champaign. Drew Sharick from Romano Beverage will be offering wine tastings and pairing recommendations for your favorite Thanksgiving dinner foods: turkey, dressing and more. Samples will be provided of each dish to give you the full tasting experience. Cost is $5 per person. Registration is required and space is limited. Must be at least 21 years old.

Michael Feinstein's Tribute to Tony Bennett: Can't get more romantic than a tribute to the great Tony Bennett. Michael Feinstein is a modern-day crooner, and he'll be accompanied by a big band. We are super excited for this Nov. 9 show at Krannert Center!

Adults Only Night at Skateland: Relive your childhood -- without the kids in tow. Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in Savoy.

Candlelight Concert at Fire Doll Studio: We've heard these candlelight concerts at Fire Doll in downtown Champaign are a great time -- intimate space and great music. Tickets for the Nov. 14 event are $15 at the door, $10 in advance.

Proof at the Twin City Theatre Company: A Pulitzer Prize-winning play deals with themes that will be familiar to our university community. Proof opens with Catherine, the 20-something daughter of an esteemed mathematician at the University of Chicago, who has just laid her father to rest after a prolonged mental illness. Robert, Catherine's father, had once been a gifted, ground-breaking professor. But as he lost his sanity, he lost his ability to communicate coherently with the outside world. Performances are at the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center in Urbana Nov. 15-17 and 22-24.

Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper: A GRAMMY award-winning fiddle player, along with his own band "Flamekeeper." visit Krannert Center for the evening on Nov. 16. 

90s Country Barn Bash: Head to Sleepy Creek Vineyards in Fairmount on Nov. 16 for a '90s Country Barn Bash. Hot Country Nights Band has several seasoned musicians performing the best and hottest country hits of the '90s. Line dancing lessons too! Just a $10 cover.

Dancing with the C-U Stars: The stars don't just dance on ABC. The Champaign-Urbana "stars" have their own competition on Nov. 22. It's one of the top fundraising events every year -- and if you're lucky enough to get a ticket, it's so fun.

Make a Pumpkin Centerpiece: Join Andrea Hunt, owner of the CU Flower House, to make a pumpkin centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table, on Nov. 26. Everything, including your pumpkin, will be provided and ready for you. The class is BYOB, so bring a beverage, if you like, and your besties and enjoy this festive class.

New Souls at the Rose Bowl Tavern: Have family and friends in town for the holiday weekend? Need some grownup time before Turkey Day? Bring your crew to the Rose Bowl in Urbana on Nov. 27 for its Blackout Wednesday tradition with C-U favorite New Souls. Doors open at 8, show is at 8:30 and cover is $10. For ages 18 and up.
