Long Time, No See!

September 2024

Hello, you glorious creatures! Long time no see. I hope this missive finds you well, gearing up for arguably the best time of year. Of course, it’s in the 80s here in Nashville and my Roma tomatoes are giving it another go, but leaves are starting their inevitable journey, and I cling to my belief that winter is coming.

With that, I bring you tidings of great joy...THE BOOK OF SPIRITS went off to copyedit this week! Jayne Thorne’s penultimate adventure is a nonstop thrill ride with some seriously scary implications for the magical world.

It’s been so interesting to write Jayne’s journey, taking her from the sassy, sarcastic, happy-go-lucky librarian to the woman she is today, with the weight of the world on her shoulders. We all have to grow up, don’t we? We all fall in love, and out of love, and in love again. We have to find ways to play well with others, and know when to stand up for ourselves, and when to stand down and accept that perhaps, someone with more life experience knows better. We all have to fight for what’s right so good can triumph over evil.

Jayne does all of that, and more, over the course of this series. As we learned from Spider-Man (and the French Revolution, Voltaire quote aside) with great power comes great responsibility. It’s been such an honor to help Jayne grow into the woman she is, one who will shoulder the responsibility of trying to save the world from a madman.

And because I adore you, another bit of news: book six is done! I’ll get to revising later this fall and hopefully will be able to get it out in Spring 2025, because trust me, you aren’t going to want to wait. I cried writing the end. I’m so not ready to say goodbye to this world. Alas. All good things must come to an end.

THE BOOK OF SPIRITS ebook is available for preorder on Amazon, where it will be exclusively for 90 days, then will go wide. And the print and audio will shortly be up on all the sites. I can’t wait to get this new story into your hands!
