Recipe bags prove popular over the summer holidays
Over the summer, we have welcomed some new volunteers to the foodbank who are working really hard to get food to those in need in our communities. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who volunteer in any way to help.
The foodbank helps around 25 people each week who are experiencing food insecurity in our area, and over the summer, we provided recipe bags to local school children. These bags contained recipes and ingredients to make delicious meals.
Recipes included pasta arrabiata, fish cakes and Dorset apple cake and during July and August, approaching 200 recipe bags were given out .
We have also been fortunate enough to receive lots of donations of fresh produce which we have been delighted to pass on to our clients.
Lyme Growers, Lyme Allotments and local individuals have been really generous with their additional produce, including green beans, courgettes, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, blackberries, plums and apples and we receive beautiful local eggs every week from a local resident.
We are currently looking for some volunteers to collect donations from our local stores - please see the advert below and contact Joanna to find out more about the foodbank and how you can help.
