I know I said I was going to do more frequent, shorter newsletters, but then I realised I just waffle too much, so I've come up with a compromise. My newsletters will still be as long, but at the top I'll summarise all the news in 3 lines. so if you're busy you don't have to read the rest. I hope that helps?
(And if you have a vision of me having business meetings talking to myself, yes, that's pretty much what happens - I'll draw a cartoon of it sometime!)
May has turned out to be a super hectic time, with so much happening. Firstly I have finally put my new cushion designs in my web shop on Etsy so you can actually buy them. They are made in a lovely velvety vegan suede, in loads of colours. 18 desgins so far. I will get the rest up later in the year. Check them out here.
I've also been preparing for my first solo art show which starts next week.
There was a very amusing day when all the picture frames arrived at once
and I opened my front door to find I was barricaded in with huge boxes.
I'm considering painting miniatures next year instead...
However I'm slowly getting there. Being a one-person business means I
have to get on with the publicity too, so I took a deep breath and
contacted all the local media. My local paper have just got back to say
they're printing the story in the next couple of days which is pretty
exciting. They also phoned to ask who they should credit for the photos -
was it a professional photoshoot? It was actually just me doing selfie.
So that was a good compliment!
The exhibition is called 'A Story of Letchworth Life' and is a collection of abstract paintings I did over the last couple of years during lockdown. It starts on 11th May at Broadway Gallery, Letchworth, and runs until 21st. If you can't make it in person, you can watch the video I'll be posting on my website where I'll be telling the stories of how the paintings came to be. There's more info here.
This is called 'Splash' and it's a painting of the local children's water park. Acrylic on card.
If you've always wanted to have a go at painting abstracts, or any other kind of art, or if you're an artist who feels a bit stuck, you might be interested in this next bit. Because I am very proud to announce the launch of the Creative Healing Art Academy!
Are you a beginner who wants to get the confidence to have a go at painting, drawing and collage? Or an experienced artist who feels stuck, wants to overcome the creative blocks that are holding you back?
When you join The Creative Healing Art Academy you’ll learn techniques to nourish your creative soul and get the confidence to make the art you want to make: The Creative Healing Art Academy is enrolling now :-)
Art Academy is designed to boost your confidence to make more art, and it's suitable for beginners and experienced artists.
How Does it Work? Every
month we meet for Art Club online - a 90-minute guided session to
encourage you to make art in new ways. You'll then receive a theme to
inspire you to carry on experimenting in your own way. At the end of the
month we'll meet again for a Review and Renew session to share our
art, tips, and goals for the following month. All
sessions will be recorded so you'll never miss anything.
I know it's hard to decide if these things are going to help or not, so I figured the best way for you to see what it's like is to try it out free. So..... The first month's FREE ! The usual price is £16 a month. But when you join, you won't pay anything for the first 30 days, so you can try it and see what you think. Then if you want to cancel your membership at any time, just unsubscribe. No-quibble, no-questions, no problem. If it sounds interesting, you can read more here:
Well that's all quite a lot, but the most exciting news of all is that my sister Maria's come over from Australia and I'll finally get to meet my new 8-month-old niece Holly-Jean, and catch up with 4-year-old Eva.
So with all that going on you may not be surprised to hear that I've had to change the date of the Spiritual Artists' Meetup. if you're a spiritual artist or intuitive creative, come and join our Facebook group here and I'll post the new date of our meetup there.
I'll leave you with a cartoon I drew after talking to a tree. After reading this newsletter, I think you'll agree the tree's message was very appropriate...
As ever, if you have any questions about any of these events or want more info about prints and paintings, just email me: firstname.lastname@example.org
