Hello Friends!

Happy Friday! "Welcome back to "The Cre8tive Life!"- your weekly newsletter full of lifestyle tips, smiles, and cool things to check out!

This past week has been a medley of high energy. I kicked it off in full gear by attending both the Museum of Modern Love pop-up event, and going to one of my FAVORITE things that I only get to do once in a blue moon-a Felabration "Jump N Funk" Afrobeat party. I maniacally went to both events on the same day (meaning, I left my house at 11AM, and got home after 5AM 😱---crazy, right?), and had a great time. I also interviewed for and researched some upcoming project work, hosted two events for a women's networking group I belong to, attended the global "Women in Business Summit 2019," and got to hang out with one of my FAVORITE cousins who is in town visiting. It has definitely been a whirlwind of activity for sure!

Be sure to check out my random pictures, video highlights, stories, and other life musings on my personal instagram page (@e101) and official brand page (@thecre8tiveartisan) throughout the week as well!

***For those that care (and, who hopefully look forward to my weekly newsletters 🙂), I wanted to share that I will be away and missing in action the next couple weeks via this particular channel due to another commitment. But, I hope that you have a great weekend, and upcoming weeks!

My weekly (random) compilation of some of my favorite "cre8tive" things that I want to share:

  • FAVORITE WORD: Selcouth: (adj) Strange, unusual, rare; unfamiliar; marvellous, wondrous.

  • ADVICE:  "Water seeks its own level."

  • MOOD MUSIC: Still reveling in the aftermath of the Felabration Afrobeat party I attended earlier this week, I will share a cool video of Burna Boy performing "Ye" with an orchestra. (***Although...I really wanted to share my FAVORITE Fela song that has been in my head, "Water No Get Enemy"---but, I figured that might be too long for some people 😂)

  • SOMETHING I WANT TO TRY: When I was hanging out with my cousin, her friend showed us this ergonomic computer mouse that she uses for work. It seemed pretty cool, and like it could be a definite game changer...If you get it, let me know your thoughts!

  • LIFESTYLE TIP: As we swing into the new season of fall, it may be time to do a little "change-up" in the kitchen as you spend more time at home than in the breezy streets. HERE are some fun crockpot recipes that might help make your life a little easier.

  • SOMETHING I'M EXCITED ABOUT:  After going to the Museum of Modern Love pop-up, and reading some excerpts from the book, the hopeful romantic in me is excited to see the new "Modern Love" short series that is being released today on Amazon Prime.

Recently I have seen quite a few memes floating around about how we are a little more than two months away from approaching a new decade. And, not that I am necessarily a big "New Year Resolutions" person (as I don't think you should feel obligated to limit yourself to setting goals for everything all at once); I do feel there is something to be said about finishing out the end of a year (or decade) reaching for your highest potential in those things that you have set and deemed as important for you to accomplish.

I always harp on how easy it is to get caught up in what society, or others, want you to do. And, I think I am so largely obsessed with this because I realize how limiting it can be to living an authentic life of purpose. The thought of living out one's days to solely make others happy, or to reach a status quo, without tapping into your unrealized gifts or the things that make you happy- regardless of how "weird" or against the grain they may be, is truly saddening. I'm not saying one should be roguely selfish with the way they choose to live life, or be careless in thought with their responsibilities and acquiring means to be able to "live." But, while "living," you should also make sure you are really living. Who's to say that there isn't a need for that "weirdness" that you want to bring in the world? You not tapping into that calling of doing something that makes you intrinsically happy, not only limits you, it also limits the world of the potential of receiving something "great." You truly never know whose life you can touch by being your most authentic self, and by chasing those things that make your inner heart and soul sing. So, while you work towards "success," I continue to implore you to also chase after what that means to YOU, and all of your uniqueness. And, let that be the anchor of how you choose to close out this decade, and your life.

This week's challenge is to take a few minutes and think about those things that you really want to aim to accomplish by the end of this year. They can be simple, silly, esoteric (or, whatever descriptor you so choose). But, they do have to be about YOU. Now, write them down, and begin the work that you know you need to do to make them come into fruition. Sometimes it's all about taking the first step!

Thank you to everyone that has filled out the survey! I will be sharing some upcoming events that I have been working on in the next couple of newsletters- so stay tuned for more info and invites!

For those who haven't filled out the survey, I can definitely still use your feedback. So, if you have not done so already, please take  5 minutes to fill out:

Thanks sooooooo much in advance for your time!

***Totally disregard this part of the newsletter if you have already done this.

Lastly, if you happen to have any future topic ideas, or come across any events I should know about, PLEASE feel free to send those along my way. I always LOVE discovering and learning about new things!

Have a great day, and be sure to take time to enjoy your life!
