Your tax dollars from the Washtenaw County Conservation District (WCCD) Millage support LOCAL conservation efforts right here in Washtenaw! With stable funding, passionate staff remain at WCCD to develop programming, events, cost-share, and grant opportunities that are responsive to our community's needs, including Farmer Cost-Share, School & Community Habitat Grant, Community Education Webinars & Events, and the Native Plant Expo and Marketplace. In addition, millage dollars allow us to leverage additional grant funding from local, State, and Federal sources to deliver resources and programs that benefit farmers and residents in Washtenaw County and beyond. These programs include the Michigan Climate Smart Farms Project, Transition to Organic Partnership, and MIFarmLink. We're Hiring a Community Forester!

This position blends expertise in forestry and native habitats with a passion for community engagement. The Community Forester will develop countywide efforts to increase native trees and forb planting and maintenance as well as pursue grants to support this work. They will bring a forester’s perspective and background to all the work we do and must be comfortable providing one-on-one guidance as well as presenting to and leading large groups.

MIFarmLink Update

Own a Conservation Easement Historic Farm

This is a steal of an opportunity to restore a piece of Washtenaw County's history! There are 94.5 acres of land available in Salem Township. Old-growth trees cover approximately 60 acres, full of wildlife and paths. 

A stream runs through this area. The tillable acreage is approximately 21 acres, with large fields. The previous owners had a dairy herd, chickens, a flower farm, and vegetables.
