It's the food newsletter you've been waiting for all week

, I am literally sitting on my phone. I'm drafting this at the beach (using pen and paper lol). I want to go into the sea, so I put my phone in a plastic bag, dug a hole and covered it with my towel. I don't want my shit stolen. Barcelona is rough when it comes to petty theft, trust no one. ⛔️

I'm still figuring out this whole newsletter thing. You could say I'm validating my idea or expanding my brand (ellaquiencome 4 lyf). Either way, thank you for subscribing. This is a place where I'll share my thoughts on food and random things, recipes, and what I'm currently into (regardless if it's a fad or not).


Bee pollen and seed powder

I am currently really into bee pollen because of my shitty allergies. Apparently, taking local bee pollen could cure them. So far (2 weeks of eating it every day) it’s *kinda* working.

The base: ½ cup of frozen berries, yogurt (or almond milk), half a nectarine, and cinnamon to a blender.

The topping: the other half of the nectarine, seed powder (put 1 tbsp of chia, pumpkin, sesame, flaxseed, and sunflower seeds in a grinder) and local bee pollen. 


The not runny egg

I made a soft boiled egg when I meant to make a runny one. What unnerves me is that I’m pretty good at doing a runny one. Proof here.

The “secret”: get an egg cold from the fridge. Bring a pot of water to a roaring boil. I mean HARD boil. Add your egg with a spoon and let it boil for 5 minutes. At the 5 minute mark, turn off the heat. Let it sit for one minute and then put your egg under cold water. Then, lightly tap your egg with a spoon and carefully peel the egg. Then, eat it however you fancy.


"Nice" cream smoothie bowl

I bought bananas and forgot to eat them. They almost went bad so I froze them. That was 2 months ago. Today I noticed I almost didn’t have any fruit available so… I made a smoothie bowl.

The base: small frozen banana (half a cup), half a cup of strawberries, half a nectarine, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, half a cup of oat milk (you can use whatever liquid you like here) and to the blender!

The topping: bee pollen, seed powder and halved cherries—they’re deliciously in season! :)

Herby lentil salad


A cold salad? In Summer? Groundbreaking. High five if you get the reference.

You can use cooked lentils or make your own. Don't know how to? I have a quick guide on how to make them here.

What you'll need: 🔪

  • 1 Cup of lentils
  • Peppers—I used conserved piquillo peppers, they're super acidic!. 2 or 3 the size of an iPhone 6 works. 
  • 1 medium green pepper (iPhone 6 Plus size 😂) 
  • Half a red onion
  • Herbs! Cilantro, basil, mint, and parsley. A handful of each.

For the dressing: 👗

These are of course base measures, I suggest you try and adjust to your personal taste. Like it spicy? Add more cayenne pepper! Like slightly salty? Add more salt! Love acid? Make that lemon rain! Explore and find your taste.

  • ¼ cup white wine vinegar
  • The juice of half a medium lemon
  • 4 Tablespoons of Olive oil
  • Sal, pepper, and cayenne paper to taste. 

So, what is it that makes this salad good? The herbs: cilantro, basil, mint, and parsley combine deliciously together. They're probably my favorite mix of herbs. 

I've made this salad once before. It was for an all-day boat trip and let me tell you it was a hit. The great thing about this salad is that as it does not contain any kind of animal product—it doesn't spoil as fast. You can use it as a base and add cheese, charcuterie, or fish to "bulk it up" but to be honest, I prefer the lighter version. However, in the end it's all up to you. 😊


I got on the bandwagon—this is overrated and I don't care

Another thing that is all the rage these days and I am all about is iced coffee and cold brew. It's 40°C and the heat makes me really lethargic. Cold brew or iced coffee with oat milk (use whatever milk you want people) and cinnamon—in a nice glass makes me feel super smug and like telling the heat to fuck off. Refreshing. Hydrating. Some people add pepper as well but I am not *that* adventurous. And yes, that is pink Himalayan salt.
