Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of the Interior (DOI) has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing Listening Sessions on the Department’s planned update to its Climate Adaptation Plan. Previously updated on October 7, 2021, this planned update to DOI’s Climate Adaptation Plan will be to comply with Section 211 of Executive Order (E.O.) 14008, “Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad”; Section 5(d) of E.O. 14030, “Climate-Related Financial Risk”; and Section 503 of E.O. 14057, “Catalyzing Clean Energy Industries and Jobs Through Federal Sustainability.”
The updated Climate Adaptation Plan is expected to evaluate exposure to climate hazards and drivers of change across the full suite of DOI buildings and employees, and to the lands, waters, and cultural and natural resources DOI is responsible for stewarding. This updated Plan will also outline specific actions to address the threats these exposures present through investments and changes to policy, budgeting, grant funding, and training.
