The new year started with bountiful opportunities for Aasraa and its mission. 

In January, Aasraa Trust was selected as one of GROW's 100 – a collection of stellar grassroots organizations from across India!
The GROW Fund is a first-of-its-kind initiative by EdelGive Foundation aiming towards building a resilient civil society and strengthening 100 grassroots organizations from across India over a period of 24 months. 

Aasraa is thrilled to partner with the Embassy of Japan in India for the innovative program 'Education on the Move' that aims to reach out to slum and street children in the remote areas of Dehradun and bring them into education.
Under the embassy's Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme, “The Project for the provision of Mobile Learning Bus, was selected and MoU signed on 10 March 2022.

The Tinkering Lab is a workspace where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands-on do-it-yourself mode and learn innovative skills. Fostering curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds, the Tinkering Lab is a cradle for innovation for the children at Aasraa.

We acknowledge with gratitude the unstinted support given by ASED ( Action for the Support of Deprived Children) and their country head Ms. Sudha Parthasarthy for the construction of The Tinkering Lab

In a humanitarian intervention, Aasraa reached out to children and their families as the fire raged through the Bhauwala Slum, 20 kilometers from the town center.
 
Team Aasraa put together an immediate response to provide the affected families with essential goods for survival. Over 55 families were reached during this rescue operation.  

On the occasion of  International Day for Street Children, the Aasraa
Team released its first-ever podcast, #BeyondTheMission on 12 April 2022. 

Aasraa dedicated the first episode of this podcast to the incredible frontline workers who work tirelessly to bring hope in the lives of street children.

No matter what challenges life throws at them,  children always try their best to find their skies and their flight.

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO VIRENDRA!

Virendra, a child with a creative mind and soul, bags the third prize in the National Painting Competition organized by the Indian Council for Child Welfare.
The Governor of the State, His Excellency Lt.Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh awarded him a winning plaque and a medal at Rajbhavan, Dehradun.

Suffering from muscular dystrophy, Virendra lives in Aasraa's shelter home and is inspired by art and colors. He sets an example of hope and bravery and we couldn't be more proud of him!

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO DHARMENDRA!

Dharmendra is studying for a certification course in Hotel Management from Renaissance Institute of Management and Technology.

He is currently interning with Iscon The Fern Resort & Spa, Bhavnagar, Gujarat. A great source of inspiration for all his peers and juniors, he fills everyone with utmost joy back at Aasraa.
We wish him all the luck! 

In January, Aasraa celebrated the 73rd Republic Day at all its projects. 
The flag was unfurled at the Vasant Vihar office by the CEO, Amit Balodi. 

In March, the #SpringFestival2022 ‘Basantotsav’ held at Raj Bhawan, Dehradun was filled with colors and flowers to welcome the joyful season of Spring. Aasraa children were invited to participate in the annual drawing competition and they participated ever so enthusiastically! 

Festivals not only bring joy, but they also give children an opportunity to learn about our rich culture. Aasraa celebrated Holi, the festival of colors with its children and their big bright smiles.

Aasraa is delighted to share with you that 106 children are appearing for their class 10 and class 12 board examinations;  preparing to enter universities and colleges. 48 children are currently enrolled in 26 different colleges and institutes. 

Aasraa's Higher Education Program supports children's dream to go to college and universities and continue their education beyond schools.
