What are the things that you hesitate to do?
Is it that you hesitate to wear certain outfits? To talk about your interests with a stranger? To speak in public to a crowd?
To express your true self in its entirety?
Think about it for a minute.
Now ask yourself. Why is it that you feel this way?
Is it that you don't feel adequate enough to do those things yet?
What would make you feel adequate?
A lot of people think looking a certain way. Or being at a certain bodyfat. Or having more interesting hobbies to talk about.
Would give them the confidence to express themselves fully.
But is that the case really?
The ability to be truly confident in your own skin. To be able to accept 100% of who you are at the moment. Is a skill.
And like any other skill. It has to be honed with practice.
Don't get me wrong here. When I say accepting 100% of who you are. I don't mean "loving" your flaws.
We all have flaws. Things we don't like about ourselves.
And accepting them for what they are. Flaws. Is what being truly confident in your skin means.
Not creating a false illusion of "loving your flaws".
Once you can truly accept yourself for who you are. And become totally comfortable with it.
Expressing yourself as your true self would become second nature.
And others around you would sense it as well.
This would often have a polarising effect. It will make some love you even more. And repel others fiercely.
But this is what you want. This is a quality all confident leaders have.
If everyone likes you. No one thinks much about you.
To attract your tribe. You have to be willing to repel the rest.
I want to leave you with this thought for the rest of the day:
“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let our true selves be seen.”
