Dear Partners and Friends of Ukraine,
On February 21, the Putin's regime recognised two breakaway regions of Ukraine as independent and today at 5:00 am launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Airfields, military units, control centers were attacked. Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with 300 votes approved the martial law. The Russian Federation reached a point of no return in its aggression against Ukraine. It is a breaking point in global geopolitics!
Transparency International Ukraine as one of the leaders fighting corruption appeals to our international partners to act and stay united to stop Russian aggression in Ukraine. Putinist imperialism is a threat not only to Ukraine but to the whole world, and we are in this together.
The response from partnering countries needs to be swift and tough before it's too late. Current sanctions imposed by Western countries aiming at Russian financial institutions, limiting access of the Russian state to the capital and financial markets services, personal sanctions against MPs are essential but much more needs to be done! We cannot afford to wait for the next moves of the Russian troops. Hesitation or lack of firm actions can have severe consequences for all of us: thousands of casualties in Ukraine and potential attack on other European countries.
We call on the world to support us in the fight against the aggressor! Immediate rigid sectoral economic sanctions need to be put in place. We need to impose sanctions on TOP Russian banks, introduce full-scale embargo on Russian oil and gas exports, cut Russian banks off from the SWIFT system, introduce sanctions against any party operating in the Russian technology sector and impose an export control regime. Moreover, severe personal sanctions targeting individuals involved in the attack on Ukraine, members of the Russian Security Council, MPs, and Russian Forbes 100, need to be introduced and further extended.
We urge our partners in the EU, the Unites States, the NATO and all over the globe to enforce the exhaustive set of sanctions and apply all possible measures to immediately respond and stop the Putin's regime! In these tough times, the world needs to be united as never before in the 21st century. We all have to act now with all the resources we have!
Stand with Ukraine,
