New issue Our December issue is out next week!
Christmas in Bath never fails to feel a little magical. Whether you’re savouring the return of festive traditions or carving out new ones of your own, this time of year always brings with it a sense of celebration and reflection. This month’s issue is filled with stories to inspire, uplift, and accompany you through the season. We meet the legendary composer and producer Will Gregory, best known for his work with Goldfrapp, to talk synths, science, and the Ivor Novello-nominated Moog Ensemble. We also chat with artist Lindy Wright, fresh from her appearance on the TV show Portrait Artist of the Year.
If you fancy donning your walking boots, Peter Lant, founder of Walk Bath, has just the ticket. He reminds us of the profound benefits of simply putting one foot in front of the other, sharing how walking can be both grounding and transformative for mental wellbeing. For the dog lovers amongst us, make sure you read our interview with illustrator Harriet Lowther, who will be in Bath on 11 December to sign copies of her book, Tell Your Dog I Love Them. On the foodie front, we have several stories, including an interview with Rob Clayton, chef patron of Clayton’s Kitchen, and a review of Bandook, which offers delicious Indian street food dishes. Of course, no issue would be complete without our round-up of the very best events, city updates, fashion, beauty, and so much more.
So, as usual, keep an eye out as the mags will land in cafés, restaurants, shops, cultural venues and on doormats across the city next week.
In the meantime, catch up on our November issue here.

Theatre Review To Kill a Mockingbird at Theatre Royal Bath
"As Tom Robinson (the accused), Aaron Shosanya is a cowed, despondent poster boy for life as a disenfranchised Black man living in America in the Jim Crow era, vulnerable to the very real possibility of being skinned alive by those who take ‘justice’ into their own hands… such as, the sickeningly loathsome Ewells: the damaged, subordinated Mayella (Evie Hargreaves, the accuser) and her vulgar, bullying, barbarian father Bob (Oscar Pearce)."
Words by Melissa Blease
To Kill a Mockingbird is on at TRB until 22 November

Will Ferrell stars as the ultimate fish out of water, Buddy, who as a baby crawls into Santa's toy bag and is whisked off to the North Pole, where he is raised as an elf. FUKT
Swedish/German drawing magazine FUKT releases a themed issue every year and invites artists to submit work based on the subject. For 2025 it’s ‘The Sound Issue’ which explores the relationship between sound and drawing – where they meet, overlap and translate each other. It asks whether it is possible for a drawing to capture rhythm, voice or even just noise. The search for answer begins starts on the cover itself, which is printed in relief and you’ll find it impossible to stop handling it. Inside, contributing artists enable you to travel through graphic scores and musical structures to resonance, vibration, and listening. Some works follow the pulse of music, others trace the invisible currents of electromagnetic fields, the voices of whales, to the inner sound of thought and memory. Look and listen.

The Handful Chamber Choir: Like Snow in a Dark Night, 29 November
An antidote
to the oncoming chill of winter, with one of Bath’s leading chamber choirs.
Like Snow in a Dark Night brings together two staples
of the chamber choir repertoire: Morten Lauridsen’s powerful Mid-Winter Songs and Frank Martin’s
exquisite Mass for Double Choir.
Lauridsen’s extrovert,
intense choral cycle explores the range of emotions in texts by Robert Graves,
where winter is combatant and comfort in equal parts. In contrast, Martin’s Mass for Double Choir is monumental in
scope yet intimate in character. Martin considered it to be “something between
[him] and God” and waited forty years after composing it before he allowed it
to be performed. It remains a centrepiece of 20th-century choral music.
The programme also features works by:
Morten Lauridsen | O love, be fed with apples
Pierre Villette | Hymne à la Vierge
Jamie Hamilton | Gloria
Benjamin Britten | A Hymn to the Virgin
Vicente Chavarría |Ther is no rose of swych vertu
7.30pm | St Mary's Church, Bathwick, BA2
