1. Breathe: 😮💨
Right now, as you read this, take a deep breath, hold it for 10 seconds and slowly exhale.
Done? We’ll move to step 2!
2. Think: 🤔💭
I know this is about overthinking and I’m telling you to think, but know this, 99% of the harm comes from making the problem bigger than it is.
So, if it’s not life or death, take a step back and think about your stressors.
3. Control: 🎮✊
Once you identified your stressors, how much of these are within your control?
Fact: You can’t control everything!
Not the weather, traffic or how someone treats you.
You can only control your reactions to what happened, so learn to let it go. ❄️
4. Distract: 🪁⚽
Stop overthinking by engaging in an enjoyable activity.
Could be sports, a new hobby etc. You do you.
5. Journal: ✍️📕
Journaling helps get the thoughts out of your head.
You could even do it in 5 minutes on your phone’s notes app.
It’s for you to get out of your head.
6. Meditate: 😌🙏
Did the deep breath earlier help?
If it did, take it to the next level by meditating or do a few deep breathes throughout your day!
There’s no changing the past, and no changing the future. Although it’s easier said than done, start with some of the steps above and hopefully your mind becomes clearer. Life’s too short to be unhappy, you’ve got this!
