990 Filing for FYE 6/30: For fiscal years ending June 30th, complete 990 by August 31st. To attain Good Standing status, you must file a 990 with the IRS.
Council Payments: Pay Council dues of $50 by the first Council Delegate Meeting. You may pay online or bring a check to the August 25th training made payable to ‘SBISD CPTA’ to: SBISD Council of PTAs | 955 Cambell Road. Houston, TX 77024.
Back to School Event(s): If you have a back-to-school event, ensure arrangements are in place, order spirit shirts, create membership forms, review crowd flow, create a brief “Why should you join PTA and back the future?” presentation.
Executive Board Documents: Prepare folders for the executive board or share digitally (such as Google Drive).

First Board Meeting (Sample Agenda and Script): Ensure all board members sign theConflict of Interest Policy. Present and vote to approve or adopt the following:

Two 24-hour tax-free days per calendar year (if not done in May)
Bylaws & Standing Rules Review: Ensure parliamentarian requests a current copy of your bylaws and standing rules from Texas PTA. The bylaws will come in the current template. Review bylaws and standing rules every three years (or less) and submit changes or notification of review with no changes to Texas PTA for approval. If making changes, follow Texas PTA process to notify member and obtain approval.
Mentor: Connect with our Council mentors if you need help. Mentors are available to help you with questions and resources, such as sample scripts, flyers, and training.
First Membership Meeting (Sample Agenda and Script): At your first membership meeting, present and vote to adopt or approve the following:
Budget (if not done in May or if amendments, fundraisers included in budget)
1. Have copies available for your membership. Read line by line.
2. Hold discussion and answer questions
3. Vote to adopt the budget
