Series three of Bristol-based hit show 'The Outlaws' lands on iPlayer and Amazon Prime
The city’s favourite community service clan have made a triumphant return to our screens this week, as Stephen Merchant’s third season of his hit series The Outlaws lands on both BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime.
Their latest escapade sees the gang carry out their duties on a community farm (under the watchful eye of their supervisor Diane - aka Baby Reindeer’s Jessica Gunning), which might look familiar as filming took place at St Werburgh’s City Farm. Filming locations around Bristol in the new series to watch out for, among others, according to Bristol Film Office, include The Kensington Arms in Redland, King Square in Stokes Croft and The Architect Bar on Harbourside.
You can stream the full series on iPlayer here or Amazon Prime.

WEEKEND RECIPES | A SWEET TREAT
|

Words by Melissa Blease
Strawberries 4 Ways
What's better than one strawberry recipe? Four strawberry recipes, of course!
Strawberry Ice Cream (serves 4) In a medium-sized saucepan, lightly simmer 400g hulled, quartered strawberries with 55g caster sugar and the juice of 1 lemon for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Take off the heat and allow to cool completely. When cool, pour half of the poached strawberries into a bowl and, using a stick bender or a potato masher, mush it into a thick puree. Add the rest of the poached strawberries and stir to combine. In another bowl, whisk 600ml whipping cream with 200ml condensed milk (light or regular, it's up to you) to form soft peaks. Fold the strawberry mixture into the cream then pour into a clingfilm-lined 900g loaf tin and freeze for at least 3-4 hours until solid. Allow the ice cream to soften at room temperature for around 5-10 minutes before serving.
Strawberry Lemonade (makes 1.5l) Dissolve 175g caster sugar in 1l water in a saucepan over a medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and leave to cool completely. Drop 400g hulled, quartered strawberries into a blender or food processor, blitz to a purée and strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any seeds. Tip the strawberry purée into a large jug. Add the cooled, sugared water and the juice of around 4-5 lemons (aim for around 200ml lemon juice in total) and stir well to combine. Serve in long glasses, over plenty of ice.
Strawberry Ripple Mousse (serves 4) Blitz 400g hulled, quartered strawberries (reserving a handful for decoration) and 100g caster sugar in a blender or food processor until smooth. Whisk 300ml double cream to stiff peak consistency. Reserve around 4tbsp of the strawberry purée, then ripple the rest through the whipped cream. Divide the reserved purée between four small serving glasses or ramekins, spoon the mousse over the top and chill for at least 1 hour (or up to 8 hours). Serve chilled, topped with the reserved chopped strawberries.
Strawberry Daiquiris (serves 4) Note: you need a powerful blender for this one as the ice needs to be blitzed. Tip 400g hulled, halved strawberries into a blender. Add 150ml white rum, 4 tbsp lime juice and two mugfuls of ice cubes and blend until you reach Slush Puppy consistency. Serve immediately in suitably-sized cocktail glasses.

WEEKEND WINE | A LAND DOWN UNDER
|
|
|
|
Australian white wines at The Great Wine Co.
Things are not quite what they seem down under! Thanks to increasing interest in Australia's diversity as a tourist hotspot, vinophiles are really beginning to appreciate the variety in terms of climate and terroir that make the country's wines not generic expressions of warm climate classics, but unique expressions of a diverse topography. From the sun-baked, red clay rolling hills of the Barossa to the undulating, maritime coastal vineyards of the Mornington Peninsula, this country has so much to offer.

Corymbia, Chenin Blanc | £25.00
The Corymbia Chenin Blanc is Chablis-like at present, and just beginning to show promise of blossoming into gloriously complex, fragrant, honeyed maturity. |
D'Arenberg, The Dry Dam Riesling | £18.50
This has a beautifully intense mandarin orange and lemon sorbet character, with bright, tangy acidity balanced by finely-judged sweetness, resulting in a dry-ish style overall. At only 10% alcohol yet with masses of character, this really is the perfect foil for prawns or langoustines, or Thai, Vietnamese and Malaysian food. It would go equally well with a very British plate of fish and chips.

|
|
Wynns, Coonawarra Estate Chardonnay| £14.40
Elegant pear and nectarine fruit flavours are supported by a creamy cashew nut texture. Natural cool climate acidity draws out the palate for a clean and flinty lingering finish with light spice and preserved lemon. Wynns is the largest owner of vineyard land in Coonawarra, with its world-renowned terra rossa soil.
|
|
|
|
Kooyong, Beurrot Pinot Gris | £27.50
The first impression is an inviting aroma of honeysuckle blossom, followed by toast and honey. When you take a sip, you immediately notice the beautifully round and generous texture with juicy melon and peach fruit character. Then come delicate, creamy oak and complex nuances of flowers and spices. All the flavours are kept fresh, precise and balanced by beautifully crisp acidity so it is rich but never heavy. Marvellous!

Curated by Daniel McCabe
Table is a beautifully-designed food, travel and lifestyle magazine, theoretically biannual although we seldom see it released more than once a year. All the more reason to grab it when you see it because if you’re interested in imaginative food photography and new or not over-familiar faces in the UK’s culinary community you’ll find this a very fresh read. It also packs in a tasteful mix of travel and design features, recipes, restaurant highlights and thought provoking essays that make it a great one for the table, though perhaps the coffee table and not the kitchen table – you won’t want food or sticky fingers near this one. | £15

Savills reaches finals of Bristol Bears Community Foundation Tag Rugby Tournament
A team of property professionals from Savills Bristol played its way into the finals of the 2024 Bristol Bears Community Foundation Corporate Tag Rugby Tournament – helping to raise £22,000.
The annual Tournament kicked off in March, with 24 mixed teams from businesses across the South West competing in a series of heats, culminating in the final, which took place at Ashton Gate Stadium last week (22nd May).
The Savills team, which included men and women from its two Bristol offices, was unbeaten going into the final, which saw the top 12 teams vying for the trophy. After a hard-fought – and wet – final of five matches, Savills secured 6th place overall.
Jack Davies said: "It was a fantastic event to be a part of and we were proud to have put in the performance we did. The Bristol Bears Community Foundation is an incredible charity and we are thrilled to have played a role in raising a game-changing amount of money for the cause, providing funds for programmes that enhance employability and improve the skills of young people across our region."
